I get your point, although I do think being “on the streets” is different from forcing your way into an actual building. That being said, I think more force in general should be used against rioters.
You could make that exact same characterization about Antifa maggots forcing their way into an ICE building. and if that was some hairy-back Antifa chick forcing her way through a broken door window inside an ICE detention facility. Yeah, fire away. At some point, the cops have an obligation to protect federal property, using deadly force.
When I first heard that someone was shot, it sounded horrible. Then I watched the whole video of her incident and thought "what the f*** was she thinking?" A cop literally standing right on the other side of that locked door, pointing a weapon at her, telling her to stop. And she keeps crawling right on through. I'm sorry it came to that but she was acting like a complete dumb*as.
Lots of dumbasses out there, and if you want to put her in That category, fine.
But the capital “officer” was not threatened with bodily harm at that point and could have subdued her esp as she was in no position to resist crawling through a window
As to your Ice facility argument, it would be the same if ICE officers just shot because someone was breaking in, but that is not how we do it, thugs and criminals yes, but we are better than that
Snoot full of pepper spray and hog tied and arrested.
If bullets, rocks or Molotov cocktails start flying that is a different story
Thankfully more force is being used esp compared to xiden and blm/antifa
I think we have been far too "gentle" with Antifa, with people deliberately obstructing traffic, etc.. Ordinary people have the right to go about their lives without being paralyzed by those trying to force others to accept their political views. Speak your piece, but follow the freaking law. Obstructing law enforcement vehicles, shooting bottle rockets at buildings...they should be getting hammered for that stuff.
I do think some of the sentences handed out for J6 were excessive, especially in light of the toleration of leftist disruptions. But I still believe those who forced their way into the Capitol deserved to get hammered, and being "incited" by others is no excuse. People are responsible for their own choices.
And I know part of the excuse is "well, they opened doors and let people in", and yes, in some cases that is true. But it also is true that some people truly forced their way in past cops, through doors, etc.. Ashley Babbitt wouldn't have been crawling through the glass window on a door to get inside if that door was unlocked and she was just waved it.
My tolerance for those who choose to do stupid stuff is low.
I sure would.
EXACTLY
Exactly, which is why the government settled with her family.
Almost forgotten has been the fate of Roseanne Boyland, who was initially trampled by the crowd, then was beaten by Capital Police Officer Lila Morris after she was down. I don't believe Morris was covered by Biden's (or the autopen's) Presidential pardon.
Yes, all true. Lindsey should be yelling at Nancy who admitted to leaving the building unprotected by refusing national guard troops.
Babbit had an armed escort about 15' - 20' behind her. You left out the detail of the 'minority officer' taking a weapon out of a paper box he was carrying. What are the odds something was planned, and executed?

If that had happened, I wouldn’t be denouncing the shooting (even though she posed no imminent threat — and there were 18 armed Capitol police on the House chamber side of the barrier, not counting the three original policemen and the SWAT team on her side). Byrd shot her from ambush without giving her the chance to save her life by retreating.
You say you watched “the whole video”, but there are several videos, and none of them shows what you claim.
(1) Byrd was NOT “standing right on the other side of that locked door”. There were two middle doors and side panels on the left and right. Byrd was standing behind the wall at the leftmost side panel until he leaped forward to take his shot. Ashli was on the opposite side of the hall, climbing up into the window of the rightmost side panel (the government attorney’s exoneration-of-Byrd press release also said “door”, a trivial mistake among more serious misrepresentations).
(2) Byrd was NOT confronting her with a weapon pointed at her. There’s no indication that she ever knew what hit her. She’s facing forward as she rises up into the rightmost window when Byrd jumps out from the far left and immediately shoots her.
(3) Byrd was NOT telling her or anyone else to stop. He was hiding. A recording taken about five feet from his pistol — by the leftmost panel — contains no audio at all from him. Ashli was on the opposite side of the hall. None of the publicized videos contains any audio from Byrd. Some persons on the left saw his gun jutting out into view at the leftmost panel and tried to warn others to the right. They were understandably scared. There’s no indication that Ashli heard them, though, and no reason to believe she wouldn’t have been scared too.
Ashli was shot from ambush, not only not given a chance to retreat, but she almost certainly never ever knew what hit her. Shooting her was an evil treacherous act.

Yes, they deserved compensation. I wish more of the information about what happened had reached the American people, though. The videos show plenty, but most people still don’t realize just how outrageous that shooting was.
