I ran into her a couple of times when I was working at a big country station in Los Angeles during the 80s and 90s. I'm a massive fan of hers, and the station manager knew I was eager to meet her and get a photo together. She was kind enough to call me into the booth for a picture, but unfortunately, the promotion manager messed up the film later on.

A few nights later, she had a concert, and the station manager told her what happened with the film. Dolly was super nice and told him to invite me to her dressing room for another photo after the show. We ended up chatting for about 15 minutes. She asked me about my life and was just as genuine and sweet as she appears in public.
I was also really surprised at how short she is.

Dear Lord, keep her suffering here so we can feel content, instead of bringing her to your arms earlier.

Have mercy on her soul. That’s all that matters.
