Amy McGrath announced on Monday that she is once again running for Republican Kentucky Sen. Mitch McConnell’s seat.
McGrath, a former Marine fighter pilot, said in a post to X announcing her candidacy that “Kentuckians deserve someone battle-tested and ready to fight for them on day one.” She is joining a growing field of candidates in the race to succeed McConnell, who announced his retirement in February.
McGrath’s campaign did not respond to the DCNF’s request for comment.
The former Marine was soundly defeated by McConnell in the 2020 Kentucky Senate election, despite significantly outraising him. She notched over $94,120,557 in fundraising during the 2020 race, compared to McConnell’s $71,351,350, OpenSecrets reported.
Moreover, McGrath notably outraised McConnell and also spent more than double what he did from July 2020 to September 2020, Kentucky.com reported.
Additionally, McGrath lost to Republican Rep. Andy Barr in the 2018 race for the state’s 6th congressional district. Barr announced on Apr. 22 that he was launching a bid to succeed McConnell in 2026.
“Andy Barr and President Trump beat Amy McGrath once, and they’ll do it again. Together, they defeated her in what was once a battleground district, despite her millions from coastal elites and endless airtime from the liberal media,” Alex Bellizzi, a campaign spokesman for Barr, said in a statement provided to the Daily Caller News Foundation.
Other Republicans running for the open Senate seat include former Kentucky Attorney General Daniel Cameron and Lexington businessman Nate Morris, Spectrum News 1 reported. Meanwhile, other Democrats running in the upcoming Kentucky Senate race include State Rep. Pamela Stevenson, former CIA officer and military veteran Joel Willett and Nate Forsythe, who is an attorney, the outlet reported.
McGrath previously compared President Donald Trump’s victory in the 2016 election to the September 11, 2001, terror attacks. She also claimed in a June 30 X post that Trump and Republicans are “making America weaker again.”

So....165 MILLION dollars spent on a Senate race????
I think I figured out what is wrong with our government.
$94,120,557... $94 million for a senate race? Someone has their decimals wrong.
Open seat-she’s got a chance. It’s ‘candidate quality’ on our side. Don’t underestimate our ability to screw things up. Cameron’s a loser. Others unknown. So Barr’s won a couple lections. Statewide appeal? You tell me.

Yes, but consider the profits on that investment. The bribes, kickbacks, insider trading....
I do not think KY has any major media markets - so $165M, if it was spent, must have been one heck of a blizzard of ads, direct mail, and who knows what. Unreal.

Kentucky is a weird place. Remember, they elected Mitch, Rand and mASSie.
Note that Open Secrets probably lowballs totals.

Don’t forget that media consultants can be very expensive.
No, they don’t.
And that’s not even counting the amount of Super PAC money spent.
Oh yes, that. She's a treasure trove of comments like that...continuing to the present day it appears on social media.
Louisville, Lexington, Cincinnati, Nashville, Huntington, Evansville, Paducah, Bowling Green.
so $165M, if it was spent, must have been one heck of a blizzard of ads
Well it was indeed that - I can assure you.
About the same amount was spent in Texas for the Allred-Cruz campaign. Colin burned through $100+ million to lose to Ted by 9 points. Now Allred wants to run against Cornyn or Paxton.
I wouldn’t vote for this liberal lunatic if she was the only one running. She’d be a disaster for Kentucky. Hope every liberal loses in Kentucky for the rest of time.

Ok Amy, since you seem to have an IQ lower than the temperature of the room I’m in, let me explain this slowly:
When a service member cheers the murder of an innocent American, it is not “disagreeing with a podcaster.” It is:
1.A violation of their oath to support and defend the Constitution, which guarantees life and due process.
2.Conduct unbecoming under Article 133, UCMJ.
3.Bringing discredit upon the Armed Forces under Article 134, UCMJ.
4.Failure to obey lawful orders on extremist activity under Article 92, UCMJ.
5. An insider threat under DoD Directive 5205.16 — using their access and platform to normalize violence against Americans, corrode morale, and undermine the mission .
This isn’t about silencing free speech. It’s about rooting out oath breakers. Every service member swears an oath to defend Americans, not glorify their deaths.
And when you twist that reality into a cheap talking point, you don’t just defend the guilty, you slander the very idea of service itself. That is the true disgrace.
Again, do push-ups until I get tired.
