Paranoid Cop Mistakes Gas Pump for Pistol
Youtube ^ | October 1, 025 | The Civil Rights Lawyer

Posted on 10/01/2025 3:06:13 PM PDT by Fiji Hill

This police officer with the Leon County (Florida) Sheriff's Office is so paranoid, that he sees a guy (Robert) parked at a gas pump, with a gas pump in his hand, trying to pump some gas, and he immediately thinks it's something else in his hand. He gets scared. He pulls into the gas station, gets out of his police cruiser and draws down on the guy, shouting at him.

I did that once, back in the 90s.

It was pretty dull.

It had one of those full auto latches where you pull the trigger once and fill up an entire gas tank.

I got stopped, pulled out of my truck, and frisked for having no front plate on my car in Texas.

If I drive my car to Texas, I had better be careful, because my car doesn't have a front plate, since California doesn't require them. Being from a blue state most certainly wouldn't help unless I wore my MAGA or DOGE hat.

.
On my first day out of Police Academy on my way to a crime-scene detective career, I rode with an officer—as a passenger—on an “orientation run”.

We were called, first thing, to an officer-involved shooting in Coral Gables (Miami-Dade County) where the officer was killed!

(Robert DeKorte, who wrestled a young gunman trying to affect his arrest).

Since when? The last time I visited California (2021) every California-tagged passenger vehicle had two plates.

Every CA tagged car I’ve seen here has had two plates.

People are fallible but when you screw up like this cop did you don’t get an attitude but you apologize and ask for forgiveness. You say, oh man I am so sorry. I looked over when I was driving and I thought I saw a gun in you hand pointing at the store. Man do I feel stupid. Please accept my apology, ask to shake hands and everyone has a story to tell.

Now he’s an idiot and a bad cop. If he had shown humility none of us would have never known about this and there would be no hard feeling between the citizen and the cop.

Years ago a cop pulled me over. Came up to my car, I rolled down the window and naturally he asked me for identification.

I said yes, and turned away from him, bent down and reached for my purse with my identification which i kept under the passenger seat.

Came back up and with my purse in hand turned to the open window where he was standing poised with a gun drawn pointed right at my head.

I nearly fainted, and said, slowly, like speaking in a haze, ‘you said you wanted my identification. I alway keep my purse under the seat’.

The two of us were at that point in another mood, shall I say.

I nearly got my head blown off. He nearly made a fatal mistake.

I don’t keep my purse under the seat any more.

In California, the legal requirement for front license plates is detailed in the California Vehicle Code Section 5200. This law mandates that all motor vehicles registered in the state display two license plates: one on the front and one on the rear. The purpose of this requirement includes aiding law enforcement, toll collection, and vehicle identification. Front plates provide an additional point of reference for officers and automated systems to identify vehicles involved in criminal activities or traffic violations.

If that cop is still employed then god help the people in his area. Only a corrupt police force would keep him.

Maybe it’s just me, but the officer was upset because the guy was waving the nozzle around to get them to turn on the pump and the officer mistook it for a pistol. I guess I need to get more in tune with the new firearms technology. Does the 1.5-2” black hose on the bottom of the new pistols carry bullets or what?

That public servant committed assault with a deadly weapon. Why is he not facing charges?

Police need to make certain a weapon is being brandished.

Police need to understand that We the People are armed. They need to mind their manners; show us the respect we deserve from our SERVANTS ... or find another line of work.
