Last night at at TPUSA event featuring Megyn Kelly, who was supposed to be accompanied by the late Charlie Kirk, a student said Trump contributes to the rhetoric that got Charlie killed. He cited a study that indicates much more of the political violence in America is motivated by right-wing ideology.
The truth is that this study cherry-picks a timeframe that gets the author where she wanted to go. Also, thanks to social media and how it has so fundamentally reshaped the media power dynamic in this country, much of this study is simply antiquated. In short, social media has not been good for the left and they are not dealing with it well. More on that later. First lets look at the study.
This study cites attacks from a selective time period seemingly designed to make it look worse for the right. The study itself notes on p3, from the 1960s to the 1980s, 'domestic terrorism was dominated by far-left ideology.' The 70% number cited by the student, however, conveniently excludes this timeframe because the study excluded it.

Well, when you misdefine “the right” “political” and “violence” you’re pretty doomed from the start.
Every single “study” they cite is a biased, flawed, usually lefty academic NGO lying piece of crap.
Yep, the left’s violence is ALWAYS “free speech,” even when they’re smashing store windows and burning blocks of businesses.
A few Patriots were murdered on the street by ANtiFa types in the Summer of Love 2020 in Portland and Denver. They are not in this study as having been killed by political violence. Which is all I needed to know about this study.
they count muzzies as right ...
When the Dem governor of Pennsylvania is attacked,it is blamed on the right because the victim is a Dem. But of course, the he was attacked by the extreme left.
Statistics can count the perpetrators...or the victims.
Statistics can count the perpetrators...or the “triggers”.
Important background information.
What’s the definition of “domestic” in this context.
The 9/11 terrorists were all living in the US, yet I assume they are excluded?
They desperately want a “MAGA redneck White supremacist” type to commit such atrocities. Other than Dylann Roof and the thug who plowed into the anti Trump protesters in Charlottesville VA, that’s an extremely rare commodity. They thought the scumbag who shot up the Tree of Life Synagogue in Pittsburgh was what they were looking for, but he hates Jews and Trump as much as the left so he really isn’t a “good fit”.
Probably of greater significance, is that “they” count violent leftists in the United States, as right-wing. For example, by report, McVeigh was an anarchist. Anarchism is fringe left. (The mainstream left in the Unites States is solidly statist.) But is is a left wing philosophy, and specifically opposed to the “civilization and order” orientation of the right. Evey time a left-wing looney-tune goes on a shooting spree, or crashes a plane into a building, the lying press reports him as a right-winger. As a general rule, I don’t trust any statement from the press as to whether someone was left or right, without some information about what the person said, or has done.
When the fake studiers can’t escape that violence was from the left (such as Antifa or Black Lives Matter murdering people), that commonly doesn’t count in studies.
Greg Guttfeld said yesterday on air that the author of that study is a self- identified Antifa supporter and that that the study had been debunked
