Darren Bailey is set to announce shortly that he will run for Illinois governor once again. He was the Republican nominee for that position four years ago but lost in the general election to JB Pritzker.
Bailey – and this is important to remember -- was Pritzker’s pick as the Republican who would be easiest to beat in the 2022 general election. So Pritzker pushed about $26 to $36 million into the Republican primary to help Bailey.
The election meddling worked beautifully for Pritzker. Bailey won the Republican nomination and Pritzker went on to beat him handily in the general election, winning by 12.5%.
But the sleaze of Pritzker’s election meddling was called out by many others, even on the left.
For example, a Washington Post editorial called Pritzker’s tactic “shameless and dangerous.” The Post went on: “Everyone who recognizes that U.S. democracy is in grave danger should do all they can to encourage results such as these — not the opposite. Tuesday night brought the latest example. State Sen. Darren Bailey (R) won the Illinois GOP gubernatorial nomination…”
David Axelrod, a leading Democratic strategist, was similarly critical. “At a time when faith in our system and elections is so strained,” Axelrod wrote, “I can’t help thinking that this only adds to growing cynicism about their legitimacy. And at a time when we need both parties to produce responsible choices, this cross-party manipulation works against it.”

Desperate people…desperate measures
I suspect this tactic has been successfully used, widely, by other democrats as well. Sherrod Brown in Ohio had a good run in the Senate by facing the weakest gop candidates in the field. I often wondered if the Ohio uniparty had a deal, one seat for the gop, one seat for the rats. The balance held for a long time, until Trump came along and helped Vance upset the apple cart.
A question then: is Bailey a squish or someone of substance able to run the state?
Pritzger and Soros- two rotten peas in a pod.
He’s a solid Born again farmer, who as a State Representative told Our 400 lb Governor Pritzker to take his mask mandate and shove it up his fat behind, if he could reach back there. The only man to stand up to the Governor during covid. Pritzker had Bailey with no mask Physically removed from the General Assembly by the Illinois State Police.
Two years ago Bailey criss crossed the state every day, meeting people and working hard. Governor Lardass never bothered to campaign a day. On election night, 5 minutes after the polls closed or a single vote was counted he was declared the winner. There’s a reason democrats have run this state since the 1920s. Chicago is completely corrupt and the rest of us don’t count except for sending money to feed the Machine.
He is farmer from southern Illinois and has held state legislative offices, but nothing state wide. He only got ~42% of the vote against Prickster in 2022.
Pritzker, continuing to “Save Our Democracy”.
Bailey running for Gov. again is a public display of stupidity.
He’s a perpetual loser.
Makes you wonder the real percentage he won.
Why would a man spend $30+ million to win a seat that pays less than $250,000?
To obtain political power. Pritzker does not need money. He inherited everything that he could possibly need. His ego needed a boost and he ran for governor in 2018 to obtain his first full-time job. Now, he imagines that he will become President in 2028.
Pritker has spent over $550 million dollars in his first two gubernatorial campaigns.
Bailey is a decent man who is being duped by RINOs who are working to sabotage the GOP.
Reminds me of the Harlem Globetrotters, who played mostly against deliberately ineffective opponents, the Washington Generals.
The GOP should counter strike and announce a $5 buffet for the entire month of November.
Dems own Chicago and collar counties. State wide elections are not competitive...
There are already six candidates running for the Republican nomination as per The Green Pages.

Phil Perez link to facebook is dead. Max has a webpage, but the link here is to his Facebook page.
Maybe it had something to do with the reported 800,000 inactive voters on Illinois Voter rolls that could be harvested. Judicial Watch reported 800,000 inactive voters on our Illinois voter rolls.
Del Mar is a really bad choice for Bailey’s running mate.
