When the shield protecting a city’s children begins to crack, the first signs appear not in statistics or policy papers, but in stained glass windows shattered by gunfire. The fortress we build around our most vulnerable—our children at prayer, our elderly in worship—depends entirely on those sworn to hold the line. But what happens when that line has already broken?
This isn’t fiction or dystopian fantasy. This week in Minneapolis, a gunman opened fire on children attending their first Mass of the school year at Annunciation Catholic School. Two young souls, ages 8 and 10, never made it home. Seventeen others bore witness to evil unleashed, their blood mixing with shattered glass on sanctuary floors. The shooter, a former student wrestling with demons and fascination with mass killers, turned a sacred space into a killing field before taking his own life.
But this tragedy reveals something far more disturbing than one deranged individual’s actions. It exposes a city stripped of its ability to protect its own citizens. The question haunting every parent in Minneapolis isn’t just how this happened, but why their city seems powerless to prevent the next one.
Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara provided the answer in an admission that should shake every American city to its core. Speaking on Newsmax following the shooting, the chief didn’t mince words about his department’s reality:
From ‘Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara on Newsmax’:
The only reason we have made progress over the last few years is because of the partnerships we have had, very aggressively prosecuting violent crime, with all of the federal law enforcement and state partners that we have, because, quite frankly, we cannot get through a regular day, dealing with all of the challenges that we have, without all of our law enforcement and community partners.
Cannot get through a regular day. Let that sink in. The police chief of a major American city openly admits his department cannot handle basic daily operations without federal and state backup. This isn’t a temporary crisis or staffing hiccup—it’s complete systemic failure.
The numbers tell the story Democrats don’t want to hear. Minneapolis once fielded 900 officers protecting its citizens. Since 2020, over 500 have fled. That’s not attrition; it’s an exodus. O’Hara himself acknowledged the obvious cause: the defund police movement that swept through Minneapolis like wildfire after George Floyd’s death. Officers didn’t just leave for better pay or easier jobs. They fled the trauma inflicted on them and their families by a city that turned its back on those who serve.
“Many officers left due to the trauma of everything that they had experienced, that members of their family had experienced, the stress of continuing to work in the environment,” O’Hara admitted. The few who remained are, in his words, the “incredibly resilient men and women” who decided to “tough it out” and rebuild from ashes.
While Minneapolis burns, where’s Governor Tim Walz? (Probably at another press conference explaining why crime is actually down if you just squint at the numbers right.) When asked to fund security for private schools—the very schools where children were just murdered at Mass—he refused. While President Trump signs executive orders boosting police resources and protection, Democrats like Walz and Illinois Governor JB Pritzker spend their time demonizing law enforcement and threatening federal agents trying to restore order.
Remember when Democrats complained about federal overreach? Funny how that tune changes when their cities are literally crying for help.
Look, I get it—this isn’t supposed to be about politics anymore; it’s about survival. When a police chief admits he needs federal help just to make it through Tuesday, when children die in churches because cities can’t protect them, when officers flee by the hundreds from the very communities begging for protection—we’re witnessing the complete collapse of the Democratic approach to public safety.
The shield has cracked. Our children are bleeding through the gaps. And here’s the brutal truth we all need to face: feelings and slogans and unrelated gun control policies won’t stop bullets, but properly funded and supported police officers can.
And as we know, the MPD’s daily duties include shooting the women who call for help.

Not a gunman. A very mentally disturbed chick with a dick pothead.
Defund the police.
Enjoy yo' stupid.
This is what comes of the notion to weaken and defund the police.
I see a day when blue cities will be totally uninhabitable by civilized people.....and it’s closer than we imagine.
On its own.
Without Federal tax dollars paying for federal police/troops, there or in any city other than D.C..
Not our responsibility.
as intended
Who in their right mind would want to work for the Minneapolis PD?
It sucked, and the guy was a Somali idiot who shouldn’t have been a cop. But she lied in her 911 call and said there was a suspected rape in progress, when she was actually just pissed off that hookers were using that alley to service clients.
Then when the darkened cop car came down the alley, she sneaks up in the dark and pounds the top of the police car and startled the hell out of them.
That whole incident was an immigration story, no Americans were involved. Stupid Aussie Karen runs up and startles stupid Somali cop. Sometimes morons collide.
Waltz rails against Trump with hatred and profane language and just a few days later a mentally disturbed person shoots up a church with “Kill Trump” painted on his gun?......the left is perpetrating violence against the Right by proxy via mentally ill people with guns....
And they’re getting away with it.

Democrats support the perpetrators of crime: transgenders, Muslims, and the few blacks who are criminal. Democrat policy: support criminals and defund the police.
I watch msnbc occasionally. The hate is unbelievable.
Let them stew in their own juices.
As long as they keep electing Freys and Walzes I wouldn’t lift a finger.
Consequences are the best teachers.
The ones working at the fast food joints are enough for me to avoid patronizing them......unless I feel the overwhelming urge to experience bad attitudes and covert and even overt racism.
“Who in their right mind would want to work for the Minneapolis PD?”
When liberal city leaders consider SOCIAL WORKERS their first responders, why would anyone want to put their lives on the line?
Well, chief, turn that frown, upside down. Welcome to the Hellhole.
