Complete waste of money/time/effort. The Russian Navy has always been more of an ego project than one with practical military value. "The Americans have a big navy so we need one too."

Happy to see the Soviet Union/Russia waste as much time/money/effort as possible.

Their own sailors will sink this thing.

Im not aware of it if the Ukes have anything capable of attacking a target in the White sea.

They Do.

Talk about building something designed for winning the last war that you fought.

I guess Americans don’t have that design market cornered, do we?

Of course not - unless they use their new Flamingo cruise missile with a range of 3,000km. I don’t know if the missile is capable of hitting a moving target or if that is even enough range.

Ordinarily I would think this is just for show, but right now, Russia is strapped for effective naval weaponry. And given their past pattern, I would not be surprised if, after a short sea trial in the white sea, it is sent, guns blazing, into the black sea.

Other than that, we shall see.

Thanks, I haven’t kept abreast of the latest Uke arms developments.

Russians should have fixed up the carrier they have or converted this Battle-cruiser into a carrier they can use. She will never get close to the Black Sea until long after the war is over. Now its just a show piece, a very nice one, but just a show to impress the natives and newsmen. Watch her sail to Cuba. In a shooting war she would last about twenty minutes.

I think we're going to find out that carriers are buggy whip technology - just like HMS Prince of Wales and HMS Repulse found out in the last big war.

Someone will light up a smoke in one of the powder magazines. “Hey, Pavel - got a light?”

“”””Sink the Nakhimov and they sink the Harry S Trumam, fair enough?””””

You may desire that in your fantasy, but I don’t think Putin wants to declare war on the United States and NATO.
