My main (indeed, only) question with the “two men got out of truck” claim, is why would Timothy McVeigh cover up for a federal agent?
He was given the needle and had nothing to lose (presumably) and plenty of reason to point the finger at a fed.
The only thing I can think of is, he was threatened that, if he talked, something would happen to a loved one.

Presumes he cared about anyone, which doesn't seem to fit what narratives and investigations showed about his background.
I'd be ok with a 2nd man, but why the need to make him a fed? If McVey wouldn't turn, Nichols sure as heck would.

Maybe McVeigh thought the other guy just managed to get away, and never thought he was a federal operative.
Supposedly McVeigh hadn’t expected the level of destruction his truck bomb unleashed. It’s possible that he thought he deserved the death penalty for mass murder.
