Trump-Putin meeting ends without any deal or ceasefire in Ukraine.
US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin held a meeting lasting about 3 hours in Alaska last night and announced progress, but no immediate ceasefire in the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine.
The two leaders held a joint press conference but did not answer questions.
Both leaders said the meeting was productive but shared few details.
“I expect today’s agreement to be the starting point not only for resolving the Ukrainian issue but also to help us restore economic and pragmatic relations between Russia and the US,” Putin said.
Putin also said that Trump left the meeting with an understanding of Russia’s national interests.
The American president said: “There were many points we agreed on. Most of them, I would say.”
“Some big issues we didn’t quite get there on, but we made some progress,” the American president said.
Trump also said, “There is no deal until there is a deal.” He said he would talk with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and with his NATO allies.
Trump told Putin before ending the press conference: “We’ll probably see each other again very soon.” Putin replied: “Maybe next time in Moscow.”
The US president called the Russian president’s proposal “interesting” and added that he can see it happening.
Putin also said he agrees with Trump that the war with Ukraine would not have happened if he had been US president at the relevant time.

If there has to bexa summit in Russia have it in their St. Petersburg, in winter. Then have the one after that in our St. Petersburg, also in winter, producing the obvious contrast.
