That didn’t age very well...
Is that one of the Sanger designs?
The wings could be planned as a swing-wing design, but probably not. That’s a lot of extra weight that can better be designed around. And is only useful if you’re planning to get decently supersonic. More likely some artist thought it looked cool, but they’d more likely follow the blended wing-body design in the image after it (post 4).
Dazzle camo was used on navel ships so a submarine (or other) would be unable to figure out where the bow of the ship was and therefore be unable to determine its heading and speed, making torpedo shots too difficult. It has no use on an aircraft that is easily visually observed, and does nothing against radar tracking, it’s only effective on human-operated visual methods.
Thanks. Seems obvious now that you said it.
I’ll see you and raise you a Lockheed-Martin Tic-Tac.
Wouldn’t be the first time. For example, the MiG 15 was the Nazi Focke-Wulf Ta-183 with the British Rolls Royce Nene engine.
Well, sort of the short bus version of what would eventually be turned into the MiG.
At least it flew....................
You’re talking about Buran. It went up once on an unmanned test flight, then got mothballed in a hangar that eventually had the roof cave in because of lack of maintenance. That damaged the Buran, then I think they stuck it on a display stick in a park somewhere...
