LOL. I remember that one.
I guess we can see where Mike gets a lot of his wit.

Mike Rowe is a good guy.
Moms and granny’s know a lot of things we seldom think about.
dressed like a cat burglar
Mike Rowe is a national treasure. And his Mom too.
On the Job training is getting scarce because employers want people who can step right into a job with minimal training. Training people costs money, on the job or no.
I will add this- most of the people I see doing roadwork this summer- and there’s a LOT of it going on around here- probably don’t speak English. I am just waiting for ICE to show up at some of our local grocery stores…..
My son works for an electrician. He has a degree in Accounting and has no interest in more school. He builds houses all day.
He was working in a development when the builder came by with his daughter. A coworker told him “You should ask her out. She’s hot and rich.”. My son said “Her last name is my middle name. We are cousins”. Oops.
She is both a hoot and spot on about much!
[snip] I did meet the President, who said he didn’t recognize me with a suit on. He was familiar with my foundation, congratulated me on predicting the widening skills gap seventeen years ago, and thanked me for my continued efforts to help close it. I told him it was a privilege to do so and thanked him for the autographed bathrobe I auctioned off for $45,000 ten years ago.
“Holy Cow, Mike Rowe! You got $45,000 for a signed bathrobe? That’s a lot of money!”
“Actually, Mr. President, it’s a lot of work ethic scholarships. We’ve raised over $12 million since then and given away every penny.”
The President seemed delighted. If I had more time, I would have asked him to sign my tie and put it up for sale today, but there was a line of people behind me, and I didn’t want to press my luck. [/snip]
I loved her comment (in the ‘Old Blue’ piece that someone posted above) about Zelensky being dressed like a cat burglar :-)
Sorry - it wasn’t the ‘Old Blue” it was the one in the thread title (i watched both today.)

Sounds familiar. I worked my way through college on a survey crew, came out with a BA in Sociology. My “careers”: Self-employed in music performance, real estate sales, appraising, rental management and ownership, land speculation, land development. The only important thing I learned in college was how to sound like I knew what I was doing whether I did or not.
