Read “Egyptian Dawn” by Robert Temple - and you will learn that the Giza complex was built as one unit. He draws that conclusion by using the angles and dimensions of the structures which are all based on the Golden Angle - a very important reference in Ancient Egyptian buildings and statues.
BTW: did you k now that Ancient Egyptians did not use multiplication tables or division as we do today? Just addition and subtraction.
FWIW: Zawass permitted some drilling in front of the Sphinx and near one of the Pyramids. In both instances the drilling was halted and sealed after hitting Rose Granite - a stone that is not naturally occurring on the limestone plateau. And has to be hauled in from distant quarries.
The inference being that Rose Granite was being used to line tunnels for support.
The history and cavities of the Sphinx are explored by Robert Temple’s the “Sphinx Mystery”; he was given permission to enter and explore by Zwass. He and his wife took many photographs of the exterior and inside the rump utterance.

There’s no real hard evidence to back these claims.
But I find it curious that the Egyptian government refuses to allow any exploration under the pyramids or Spinx.
It would be a big tourist enticement, if there was anything found.

National pride. They haven’t many accomplishments to point to in the world since the days of the pharaohs. Learning some far advanced non-Egyptian civilization created everything they find pride and hubris in would be nationally demoralizing. Zahi Hawaas, their chief national archeological guy is a pompous ass.
