The Trump administration has reconsidered what state and territory firearms permits qualify as substitutes for National Instant Criminal Background Check system checks, or more generally, for Brady Law checks when purchasing a firearm. Two more states, Michigan and Alabama, have been added to the current list. As of present, 29 states and Puerto Rico have permits that qualify.
Not all permits in a particular state may qualify. In Alabama, both the Concealed Carry Permit and the Lifetime Concealed Carry Permit qualify. In Michigan, both the Permit to Purchase, Carry, Possess, or Transport a handgun and the license to conceal carry qualify.
Missouri has multiple types of carry permits. The Lifetime Concealed Carry Permit, the Extended Concealed Carry Permit, and the Concealed Carry Permit all qualify. The Provisional Lifetime Concealed Carry Permit, the Provisional Extended Concealed Carry Permit, and the Provisional Concealed Carry Permit do not qualify.
None of the California permits qualify. Surprisingly, both Hawaii permits qualify.
Here is a list of states where no permits qualify. Some of these states are surprising.
California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Illinois, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Tennessee, Virginia and Washington State.
Vermont does not issue a permit, but has Constitutional Carry.

Thank you very much and God bless you.
Why is Florida not on the list?
It has something to do with how they run background checks.
Also, as I recall, Florida permits are good for seven years, but the law says a permit has to be certified by a background check every five years to qualify.
Probably more than that, but it is what I recall...
Hurray for Idaho, where we have constitutional carry!
Are gun sales beginning to spike like they did during the summer of love?
Illinois. No surprise there.

Too early to tell.
They may well do so.
Prices have been down a bit lately.
I saw a special with Keltec P17 .22 pistol for $199. Also a fair number of AR15 type rifles or complete kits between $300 and $400.
I have to silently laugh inside when I hear people get excited about getting a permit to own a gun. Now, I just busted out laughhhhinggggggg whiiiilllle typinggg thisss tttttext on my ccccooomputer.
People need to get real. “Shall not be infringed” is a real definition yet the right to protect yourself is inalienable!!
ROFLMAO!!
bkmk

As you correctly say, government permission to own a gun is an infringement on the rights protected by the Second Amendment. The Supreme Court hasn’t got there ... yet.
If you have a CC permit in Texas, they fill out the yellow form, but they don’t call the fed for a check.

Florida is not on the list because yo have to go through a background check every 5 years for the exemption. The Florida permit is good for 7 years.
My Tennessee permit is good for life so we don't get on the list either.
I read recently they were down since the election. But maybe they’ll go back up now. Los Angeles is a mess. Riots in the streets. Looting and fires. 18 months wait to get a CCW permit application approved, $100s of dollars, 16 hours of training, and it’s only good for 2 years. We need Congress to bail us out!
Here in Georgia the FFL dealers are so afraid of the ATF they run the background check anyway.
I have a friend who works at major outdoor retail company in the firearm section. He is amazed at the drop in sales but has picked up several bargains with the price drops. Law of supply and demand.

If that’s the case I may just look around and see if I can at least get a 10/22 stainless sporter, and a S&W model 63 on layaway somewhere if the prices are right.
I’m surprised to hear some states can bypass NICS Checks. I thought part of the reason for NICS Checks was to include military records.
I watched a local news interview with a black, retarded, DIE ATF regional supervisor a while back explaining why Alabama was removed from the list of states not requiring NCIS checks. He was an idiot. Basically our guns laws were too lax or some ridiculous BS. He was a poster child for the stereotype.
....thanks for the clarification...! for the last gun I bought (I proudly live in the Lone Star State), I showed the dealer my valid License to Carry (LTC) and my TX drivers license, and he said, that’s all I need, and literally within 10 or 15 minutes, I had my gun...
