Zelensky's Gauntlet - Did Ukraine JustDraw the USA andNATO Closer to War with Russia by Targeting Russian Strategic Long-Range BombersCovered by SALT andSTART Treaties?
Conservative Treehouse ^ | 6/2/25 | Sundance

First the cliff notes version: There’s an important detail to remember. People are laughing at the long-range Russian bombers being left out in the open, vulnerable to attack. However, the bomber visibility is required as part of several nuclear agreements between the USA and Russia (SALT and START). Our U.S. long range nuclear capable bombers, covered under the same agreements, are also visible.

Ukraine President Zelenskyy is playing with fire by targeting them, which also explains why Zelenskyy never told President Trump in advance.

The U.S and NATO have provided the means. However, #1) did Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy just exploit a vulnerability by targeting Russian long-range nuclear capable bombers? and #2) was the CIA and NATO intelligence community a willfully blind participant knowing they would benefit?

It was only partly suspended in terms of mutual inspections.

Yup, which suspends any requirements for planes to be parked in the open

The Ukrainians just demonstrated they can strike Russia assets anywhere in the country. They can command and control to do it.

Russia has to worry about where they strike next.

Russia isn’t just losing men from the ‘Stans it doesn’t care about any more. They are losing strategic assets.

They have to wonder if the Ukrainians have made their own nukes.

What changed? WWIII. I see the neocon warmongers are still just as smug. You must be so proud of your CIA brainiacs who just destroyed the last of the nuclear arms reduction and limitation treaties Reagan was responsible for.

Good news for your side, the real bloodletting has just started. Good Times!

The advice POTUS is receiving certainly makes it appear as though he was set up.

If I was him, I’d be mad as hell.

Ukraine President Zelenskyy is playing with fire destroying legitimate military targets by targeting them [...]

The drone attack targeted Tu-95MS and Tu-22M strategic bombers. These aircraft are frequently used by Russia to launch cruise missile attacks against Ukraine.

Only an idiot would claim that Ukraine was somehow "not playing fair" by destroying them!

SALT is no longer in effect. Putin withdrew from the treaty in 2023.

The U.S and NATO have provided the means.

There's zero evidence that US or other NATO intel agencies were directly involved or had any knowledge of this.

Ukraine didn't need them. And Ukraine probably did say something anodyne, like "an attack on Russian airbases," not specifying any details, which would be wise given the fact that the US gov leaks like a sieve.

Hi-res lidar satellite info is commercially available now, and Ukraine's knowledge of internal Russian security and especially the mores of Russian defense work are unparalleled and were what enabled them to hijack Russian businesses to build the drones with HE and disperse them inside Russia itself.

That US intel didn't find out about it ought to be seen as simply a follow-on failure of the many successive intel failures over the past 40 years.

Trump has allowed US aid packages to be exhausted, and what Ukraine gets now the Europeans are paying for. And having put zero pressure on Putin and basically walked away, exactly what leverage does Trump have over Ukraine?

Nuclear bombers are obsolete.

The bombers were used to launch cruise missiles at Ukraine as I understand things.

Ukraine being at war exercised a letigimate right to destroy the bombers.

The Russians could and probably will modify other big planes such as airliners to launch cruise missles.

Hopefully, Hegseth has the US airfield risk factor minimized.

This is WAY past Ukraine now. The nuclear arms treaties that Trump’s proxy just violated were between the U.S. and Russia ONLY! Those treaties are now trash. Time to get this multi trillion dollar arms race in gear or just go nuclear now with what we’ve got. Good Times for your side!

So, it’s stupid for Ukraine to target the aircraft launching missile attacks against Ukraininan civilians?

destroyed the last of the nuclear arms reduction and limitation treaties

The last nuclear treaty New START, we had with Russia was suspended by Putin in 2023. So its kind of ridiculous to argue this attack "destroyed the last of the nuclear arms reduction and limitation treaties"

Russia suspends its participation in New START treaty — Putin

Not capitulating to the murdering Muscovites is honor enough.

That's the ironic thing about all the talk of "peace" by Ukrainian capitulation: that won't stop the violence, because the Russians will murder all Ukrainian political and military leadership that opposed them and steal all the country's businesses and assets, just as Putin's thugs did in Donbass.

They would treat an occupied Ukraine the same way the Soviets treated the occupied parts of Poland 1939-1941, a dozen Katyns and a few million forcibly transported deep inside Russia.

You have no clue what just happened. The number one reason I voted for Trump was to end the ongoing war between Russia and NATO before it crossed the nuclear threshold. Trump straight faced lied about how he would handle the war. Today we are much, much closer to crossing that nuclear threshold than we ever were when the dementia patient was in charge. Trump’s a liar.

ukraine and its DNC- and RINO-supported evil and pedophilia

"Proof by Assertion" Fallacy / Shock Tactics!

Likewise, you are implying that Putin's nuclear-armed Russia (which invades peaceful neighboring countries and annexes them; Ukraine - which voluntarily renounced nukes - has never done that) is better.

CONTINUES bringing the world right to WW3

Putin bears the overwhelming share of the blame for all this. If he had withdrawn a week ago, his precious long-range bombers would still be intact.

I read yesterday that the Ukrainians claimed to have used the Russian cell networks.

How dare you invoke the name of President Reagan!

Were he alive today, he would undoubtedly be backing the Ukrainians.
