The governor of the Mexican state of Baja California says the United States has withdrawn tourist visas from her and her husband.
Marina del Pilar Ávila, of the ruling Morena party, posted on social media on Sunday that she and her husband had been notified of the consular measure, without specifying the reason for the Trump administration’s decision.
”I fully trust that the situation will be satisfactorily clarified for both of us,” Ávila said on X.
The Baja California press office confirmed to CNN that Ávila’s visa had been withdrawn.
A spokesperson for the US Embassy told The Associated Press that visa records are confidential and that the details of individual cases cannot be discussed.
The governor’s husband, Carlos Torres, a politician and active member of the Morena party, said the visa revocation “does not represent an accusation, investigation, or formal indictment by any authority, neither in Mexico nor in the United States.”
He said in a post on Facebook on Saturday that his “conscience is clear.”
Baja California, which borders the US state of California, sees the most pedestrian crossings of any Mexican state bordering the United States.

“Baja, aha”
This is related to the flow of un-treated Mexican sewage that pours into the Pacific Ocean and into fresh water sources in the San Diego metro area.
My first guess was direct involvement and being owned by the cartels, but your guess is a valid one as well.
I have heard that if we approach the subject with them, we get either the middle finger, or the palm of a hand directed towards the speaker.
Why are we reading about a foreigner having a revoked tourist visa?
Never mind, Trump is president.
Baja unloads raw sewage in to the gulf and Pacific. The sewage heads north through S California. Enough said.
That is my first guess as well.
That sewage is a local Mexican government problem that they refuse to fix and is becoming a major health problem on the US side of the border.

Baja California governor criticized for giving birth in California, not Mexico {2022}:
The office of Gov. Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda confirmed the Friday birth of her son, Diego José Torres Avila {in California}.Six years ago, before she was governor, she delivered another child, a girl, in the same hospital in Brawley, California
How I miss the old days of FR!Visa Screening Criteria: If the primary purpose of applying for a tourist visa is to give birth in the U.S. so the child can obtain citizenship, the application will be denied.
Post-Entry Consequences: Individuals who previously gave birth in the U.S. under such circumstances may face visa revocation and even a permanent entry ban.
