With these go fund me type sites, is there no restriction or accountability for how they spend the money?
Supposedly they were raising money for legal defense. Is there no requirement that the funds be spent on legal defense? They are free to just go buy a house with the money?

Far too many people don’t understand just how fast you can burn through money when you don’t have a plan and just start “treating” yourself to things “you deserve”.
Good friend of mine from college was married 15 years, his wife was in an affair, they divorced. She got a $150,000 settlement from him.
She treated herself and new boyfriend to several very nice vacations, new car, plenty of shopping for everything and nothing. 18 months later she was trying to revisit the divorce for more money because she felt she hadn’t gotten enough of her fair share the first time around. In 9 months she had blown through the entire $150k. No plan, no impulse control.
