Why are private schools like Harvard, who have been caught discriminating against applicants even get taxpayer money?

The government is awarding Harvard $9 billion in contracts and grants... and does not have the right to review how the money is spent?! On what legal basis?!

Splain this to me, Lucy ! Why should the American taxpayers, like the taxi / uber driver in Sheboygan, the plumber in Provo, or the Dentist in Detroit pay their hard-earned money in the form of Federal confiscatory taxes to support Harvard University to the tune of 9 billions dollars a year while they have an endowment of 54 BILLION dollars? Columbia has an endowment of almost 15 BILLION yet our tax dollars keep finding their way there, also !! Enough is Enough ! Our country in deeply in debt, the credit cards are maxed ! We can no longer pay our Visa with our Mastercard !!!

Why on earth have hardworking taxpayers given $9 billion dollars to Harvard when they charge what they do and also have a $51 billion endowment? That’s wasteful, stupid and wrong.

agreed.

aside from some presumarly-necessary defense type “research” work, and that is more likely at MIT and Stanford than at Harvard anyway, YES!

Harvard needs our hard-earned tax money like I need a date with HilLIARy Clinton.

Thanks for the Ping!! Harvard profited greatly from the slave trade. While I was doing research on the black Civil War units 54th and 55th Massachusetts, I met the grandson of the first black that enlisted in Boston in the 54th. He was a retired Army Colonel who had initially joined the black parachute unit The Triple Nickel (555). He left that unit to enlist in the Army because the government wouldn't send them overseas, instead using the parachute unit to fight fires out west. He fought in Italy in WWII and Korea (Heartbreak Ridge). Commanded one of the first integrated units after Truman issued the order. He was a very nice man, and I'll always treasure having met him and corresponded with him.

He was a retired government worker. Lived in Lexington with his wife. During one of my visits, he told me he was taking courses at Harvard. I told him that I would have liked to have gone to Harvard, and he told me that you could get a much better education at other colleges for a whole lot less than you could at Harvard. At the time, the news about Harvard's tie to the slave trade hadn't been reported. If he was still alive today, I wonder what he would have thought about it.

I have been audited. I was legit and I cooperated with their every wish. Before the day was done they shook my hand and said you are good”

ps Keep good records and if your wife is a computer nerd like mine she will print out the records for the audit in an instant.

Corruption in finances almost always have poor records and is big red flag as are usually large business deductions.
