The logic flow diagram for the Social Security system looks INSANE. No one person actually knows how it works.
The payment files that move between Social Security and Treasury have significant inconsistencies that are not reconciled. It’s wild.

Our government is out of control.
Elon Musk may be correct in saying that nobody really understands exactly how the Social Security system works but there seems to be to an awful lot of people who know how take advantage of the ignorance to manipulate the system to their personal enrichment.

Any private firm that runs a financial product like Social Security would find themselves in federal prison.

This tends to explain how 1,039 people born 220-230 years ago are still UNDEAD in the SS System.
So these 1,039 people were born between 1795 and 1805. Gosh that means these people were between 130 to 140 years old when Social Security became law in 1935.
I was at lunch the other week with a group of people who were not born in the usa
my grasp of Asian languages is not as good as my grasp of European languages, and I was the only person not using chopsticks but they started discussing how many years they had left till they could retire with full ss benefits and the countries they could move to.
I did not realize that h1b workers could work here for 10 years and then since their pay was in the $140s retire with max possible SS benefits in another country. (double the benefits of the average us citizen who has worked 35 years)
they were counting down the months till they could do this.
Musk just announced Social Security records show OVER 20 million 100+ year-olds in the United States receiving social security benefits.
The oldest living person in the Social Security Database is 360 years-old!
It occurred to me, this morning, that at Social Security’s inception, it was touted that the Government would not use it to identify or track Americans.
Yeah, for the Conservative Right - Freedom and Liberty are preserved.
Yeah, for the Liberal Left - A system fraught with Byzantine Opacity, ripe for fraud and corruption is born.
Of course, SS is now used to identify and track Americans. Who won?

Correct. Makes it incomprehensible to deter investigators.
If you received everything you paid into the system, they should stop payments. Add 5 percent a year to be fair. But the vast majority are getting way more than they put in. That needs to end today!
And the solution can partially be found in what the private sector goes through to comply with requirements of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2001.
