Tonight Team Canada faces Team USA in Montreal in the Four Nations Face-off, and social media is already boiling about the game itself, with the two best teams in the world playing, and about political tensions between the two countries over the proposed Trump tariffs.

I agree with you. The NHL should stick to hockey and leave politics alone.

Russia made their own bed, though. Or, really, Putin did.
When Russia was lording it over everyone they were basically playing professional level players, their all stars from the entire USSR. It’s the reason the miracle on ice game is so renowned. Once the pros from all countries entered the games things got more even. US hockey got a boost when Russian player entered the NHL. They were faster and more skilled than our players at first. But as time went on the brawlers were replaced by the true skaters. It was a progression and a raising of skill level that was beautiful to watch. From the Broadway Bullies to Herb Brooks Miracle team. Gretzky to Oveachkin it has come a long way. Lord Stanley would be proud. The cup will never be thrown in a canal again either.
It's up to the Russians to use their professional athletes. But we had it right back in the day when we were using our college players. I think we should go back to that, IMHO.
If the other countries follow, I agree. Also make the I ice surface Olympic size and get rid of the center red line. If you can’t skate like a rocket you got problems. IMO. Regards
