“Imagine” is the Communist Manifesto set to music.

I have loathed that screed since the first time I heard it.

Odd choice of song for Carter who purported to be an evangelical Christian. Maybe he dropped the pretense and went full commie at the end.

I like that song, but maybe not appropriate at a funeral, particularly for someone very religious like Carter. “imagine there’s no heaven, imagine there’s no hell”, “no religion too”.

Interesting Carter was a strong Baptist and the funeral was at an Episcopal cathedral.

I ranted somewhere on here the minute the folk singer began the song; it immediately desecrated any Christian sense to the funeral and its location.

After yesterday, and the people that were there and the music, the cathedral needs an exorcist to clear out all the demons that were let in.

A teacher played this song for a project when I was in 8th grade and the students were to write down what It makes us think of.

I wrote that it reminds me of filthy stinking hippies...that was it.

Teacher was not pleased.

I was not even aware of my political leanings at the time.

Indoctrination fail!!!

This in 1978

Imagine is the national anthem of the commie left. You don’t think they’d play “God Bless the USA”.

Why not ‘Dust in the Wind’?

Well, here is my parody though it still needs some work:

Imagine there’s no heaven. It’s easy till you die;
No hell below us, Above us, only sky;
Imagine all the people, Livin’ for that lie, A-haa.

Imagine there’s no countries, So there’s more drugs to do.
Nothing to live or die for, And no religion, too.
Imagine all the people, Livin’ for my lie.

You may say I’m a dreamer, But I’m not the only one, I hope someday you’ll join us, So the devil will have won.

Imagine no possessions, I’ll wonder if you can.
But buy my music, Oh brotherhood of man!
Imagine all the people Paying for my $ongs.

You may say I’m a dreamer, But I’m not the only one.
I hope someday you’ll join us, Cause' in Hell you can't run.

Deadly song in that it packages communism, atheism, and nihilism in so anodyne a fashion that yes -- you could play it at a Christian's funeral and most people would not be sickened or outraged.

I can not imagine Jimmy Carter, leader of Sunday school classes for years, would allow this... bet he didn't know about it.

Communism is really well crafted and very deadly-toxic.

John Lennon was not really a good person, sad to say.

If there were no God I’d be free to deal with people I don’t happen to like as I saw fit. And I would do exactly that.

I did military honors at a funeral where the family played “Another One Bites The Dust.” The detail was in shock and one had to fight busting out laughing.

I’ve pissed off folks explaining what a corrupt pos Carter was. The song fits a narrative nonbeliever, not a Christian
