I hope Trump comes out guns blazing (rhetorically speaking) against this act of arrogance and spineless grifting. I hope he raises such hell that they are forced to stay and do more accountable funding bills.
These Stadiums bring in millions of dollars to the area in which they are located. It’s an investment.
“Rutherford” is a great nickname for Johnson, though I don’t know the path you free-associated. Maybe Rutherford B. Haze?
Trump’s appointees need abolutely to toe the line, show restraint and not spend inefficiently. They need to let their departments be stronly influenced by DOGE.
Just because one has a fat bank account doesn’t mean you have to spend all the money.
An entire website is devoted to proving you wrong about stadiums.
They are an economic disaster—everywhere and always.
Enjoy.

after the 1st time this punk johnson shived us in the back the 1st time., what ?, his 1st week in office ?
dump this guy NOW.
VACATE THE DANG CHAIR
.
Checked his Truth Social and X accounts within the last hour and haven’t seen anything from Trump.
If that is true, shouldn’t those who benefit from the investment pay for it?
What’s going on? Rutherford? Hayes? Can we all speak the same language, please!
I’m in NYS and the Bills are building a new stadium and the State is pitching in. We’re talking 70,000 people coming to Town...That’s a lot of meals and bar bills, and gas and hotel bills....
“Why isn’t the shipping company that slammed into the Francis Scott Key bridge paying for its repair?”
Good question!
My guess — their insurance company is fighting the claim. Or at least dragging it out.
The locals benefit...every restaurant, bar, hotel, gas station....and every one of those things are taxed and every person who works in these establishments pay taxes.
continuing resolution is badly named.
Its not just about the pork which is bad enough, there is also a bill inside this pile of garbage that does NOT allow anyone to go after any member of congress even if they committed a crime, so Schiff and Swallwell who both leaked classified intel to the media wont have to face ANY penalties for that
No, no they don’t. They bring crime and decay. Let Dan Snyder or whomever owns the crummy team pay for it himself or, at the very least, the local jurisdiction, but not us.
Really? How so?
“Why isn’t the shipping company that slammed into the Francis Scott Key bridge paying for its repair?”
Don’t disagree. But it will take 10-15 years for the bridge collision to play out in the courts. Better to get going on the new bridge now, than wait a decade or more for the final settlement, if there is one.
I heard about that one—an insane boondoggle:
https://freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/4284860/posts
Here is how it works in the real world:
(1) Owner makes out like bandit
(2) Politicians collect bribe money
(3) Revenue Projections turn out to be wildly optimistic
(4) Capital Cost Projections turn out to be way low
(5) Operating Expenses turn out to be way low
(6) Taxpayers take it in the neck because of fine print in “deal”
(7) Promised economic development does not materialize
Every flipping time....
Bonus:
(8) Politicians who made the deal are retired by the time the taxpayers realize they got snookered.
