Throughout the leading Western democracies there is mounting disarray and political collapse (with one important exception I’ll come to).
The German government, already teetering, collapsed officially yesterday. The French government has delegitimized itself by refusing to heed the expressed will of French voters, and is turning to lawfare to disqualify its leading opponent (sound familiar?). The Romanian supreme court has nullified an election because the wrong person won (populism again), claiming Russian interference. Sound familiar? (In this case there may be something to it, but still, would a court have invalidated the election if the “approved” candidate won?) In Britain, the new government elected in a landslide is seeing the lowest public approval ratings of any new government since opinion surveys began decades ago. And in South Korea, the lonely (in more ways than one) president has been impeached, and a period of chaos seems to be the next chapter.
Now it’s Canada’s turn. As I write (early Tuesday morning on the left coast), Justin Trudeau’s ruling Liberal Party is on the ropes, and it is possible Trudeau may resign by the time these pixels make their way through your router. The precipitating event is the resignation of Trudeau’s finance minister, Chrystia Freeland. Freeland blames the disarray of Trudeau’s government on . . . Donald Trump!

I keep seeing commercials telling me what a Great NEIGHBOR Ontario is.
I say bullsh1t! My wife and I traveled there a few years ago. They treated us like sh1t. We vowed never to go back.
Ain’t NOTHING Canada has that we can’t find here in the good old US of A!
yea, I was wondering what was up with that myself. Last time I was in Canada the Fench Canadian bartender in Quebec City never gave me change from a $20 for a $5 beer. When I approached him he said he didn't speak English, I said I'd meet him outside the bar if he didn't give me my change, which he did, I guess he understood English afterall.
Oh, Can-o’-beer...
So imagine my surprise when a Canadian highway trooper went past the other way, did a U-turn with his lights on and showed up behind me. I thought nothing of it, pulling over and expecting him to pass. But I was the target. He accused me of being 25 kph over the limit (absolute hogwash) and the instant I showed what I thought in my eyes/face he became very threatening to cow me. It became obvious, especially when I researched it a bit afterwards, that this was basically a well-known corrupt practice of the area, the police preying on tourists for some extra revenue.
I've never gone back, and I think of Canada as just another 3rd World nation. I've had much better experiences in Central America.
I agree. Go to You Tube and see how all these Canuks are really thinking they’re going to be the 51st. Even the Brits are demanding we save them- again!
For decades these people have been sneering at us and now it’s “Hey America make us the 51st state!’’.
