The Kentucky Senator, who is known for advocating libertarian positions, said in an interview on Newsmax that it would be a “huge mistake” for Trump to use the military to help deport the tens of millions of illegal aliens currently residing in America.
Trump has long insisted that he will use the military to help speed up the deportations, which will inevitably require a huge amount of manpower in order to send these individuals back to where they came from.
Paul, meanwhile, does not agree. He explained:

I believe Rand is not currently correct on this. Not with the massive amount we need to deport. Also it will be the only way liberals in these areas will not mess with people doing this, for fear of physical reprisal and military courts trying them.
Someone please ‘splain to senor Paul that ‘Mandate’ is not something that involves dinner and a movie.
They will probably just drive the buses and not do hand to hand combat
Rand is comparing to Martial Law ... an incorrect comparison.
This may not be accurate.
I lost a good deal of respect for Rand Paul in reading that.
He does not seem to realize we have been invaded. Literally.
I understand his point that it isn’t a good look, and that our military personnel aren’t trained for this, fair enough.
But we have 25 million people in this country who should not be here, who were brought in as a weapon by a Leftist regime.
Correct. Trump has the constitutional amendment to use the military. Mark Levin cited the federal article last night.
That is what I have been thinking. And that might be the best approach. But I didn’t appreciate the way Rand Paul approached it.
In reality it’s a mixed bag.
On the plus side, it would not only help rid the country of what is much more of a mortal threat than we realize (couple criminal gangs with Chinese saboteurs) it would notify our enemies that we are finally serious about those risks.
On the minus side it is a horrible precedent eventually in the hands of Democrats to activate the military for a domestic problem.
Rand Paul is very dependable
He pays Trump huge compliment then says something totally devastating
Always
Every time
Pain in the ass
Nice to know that Rand Paul chose to spew his crap to the press instead of discussing the topic with President Trump in person. His actions are very disrespectful in my opinion.
This is why we lose every battle.
Rand Paul spoke his mind disregarding what the ‘MAGA team’ has clearly stated. The harm done - give lefty media a talking point and raise hysteria amongst the republican voters.
His response should have been - “Trump and Homan have clearly stated the military will not be knocking on doors”. But no, it was about him and his opinion.
His comment HURT the MAGA movement and only helped his own ego.
These republican politicians had better get their act together or nothing will get done under Trump.
It ain’t about you Rand, it’s about defeating the democrats which requires an informed unified team. Not some jack*ss glorifying himself and causing chaos.
he needs to speak with Trump and Homan on this
i believe he is misstating their position
Homan has already said military would be used for support
and that every ICE agent would be in the field not behind a desk
so ICE agents would be on the front lines not the military
He acted pretty fast on January 6th, changing his plan to reject Biden's electors, to voting to accept them when he sucked in the media's storyline of the Capitol Building being "invaded."
He obviously felt it was more important to stab the two of them in the back, and run to the press first. He's an attention whore.
Yes. A little context would be nice.
Is Rand pissed because neither he nor his father has been named to a White House post?
I can kinda see Rand’s point.... It is NOT a good look to have the military patrolling America’s streets acting as police. They are not trained for law enforcement.
However, there is much the military could do: seal the border, maintain/guard the temporary holding camps marshalling deportees, acting as backup assault teams for pockets of dug in gang bangers. Etc.
