Illegal immigrants across America who now face deportation in the new Trump administration may only have a short trip from their sanctuary cities before they’re shipped off back to their own countries.

A new plan, currently under discussion, aims to double the 41,000 detention beds that Congress allowed Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

Illegal migrants would be held in such facilities before being flown back to their country of origin.

Gitmo is already built and operating. It’ll cost a fortune to set up new camps from scratch. I don’t see how Gitmo can be more expensive.

Then back to C-5 air drop - just fuel expense. Label the flights training missions and the expense is covered.

Many years ago I successfully sponsored a very talented IT professional from the Philippines who was born in China for an H1-B1 Visa. The process was long, arduous, expensive and monitored to the nth degree by the US Department of Immigration.

1. At the time there was no way to successfully sponsor a foreigner for a H1-B1 without hiring an attorney whose background included extensive knowledge and experience with US Immigration Law. Only 2 Long Island attorneys met that qualification back then. Trust me, their fees reflected that exclusivity.

2. US Immigration required that the sponsor submit proof that every effort had been made to find a qualified American for the position without success before a visa for a foreign worker would be issued. How was this accomplished? Since the position I was looking to fill was located in NYC I had to look for candidates by A) Advertising the position specifically in the New York Times Classifieds for no less then 3 successive days; B) Ad had to include work experience and education requirements for the position, ballpark remuneration for the position, and how and where to submit resumes.

3. Once the resumes submitted in a reasonable time frame were gathered and reviewed the US Immigration Department required A) Copies of all resumes submitted by candidates who did not meet minimum work and/or education requirements with specific deficiency(s) noted in a cover letter; B) US Immigration required all qualified candidates be interviewed. Once interviewed but not hired US Immigration required a copy of the resume and a written explanation in a cover letter for each rejection as a result of the interview for US Immigration's internal review processes.

Bottom line, I never entertained hiring another foreigner because I was unwilling to go through the government for a employee hire again.

I hired an engineer from Scotland with a unique skill set. He was well known in the field. I had the same experience as you. I still remember how excruciating that process was, having to prove we could not find an engineer with that particular skill set in the USA. I did that once and never again.
