Rumor on the street is that DeSantis will appoint Lara Trump ... however my money is still on DeSantis appointing himself. He is term limited and out of office in 2 years.

Seems to me like a sideways move, or even slight demotion for him. Someone explain it to me.
Rubio would have become chair of the Senate Intel select committee and has also been on the Congressional intel “Gang of 8.”
These few people have a broader overview of US Intelligence than agency heads at CIA, DoD, NSA, etc...
He’s giving up all this and his secure Senate seat to be Sec of State?

The problem with that is that she probably wants a promotion to broaden her experience. And this would be such a promotion.
And, I'm not sure she would have the same incentive for any candidate other than her FIL.

She was the one that could have had Merrick Garland arrested for not releasing the audio tapes of Biden, and then threatened to fine him $10k a day he didn't release the tapes. She failed on both and looked like an idiot for not doing anything. We need people that will fight and she caved.
Luna moves to force vote on fining Garland $10,000 per day

...what he’s best suited for.

So Trump names all these senate and house republicans to positions in the administration and guts our majority in both houses. WTF is he thinking?

Good point. NY Gov. Hochul will appoint a new Senator to replace Stephanik right? She’s not going to pick a Republican.
To: RainMan
my money is still on DeSantis appointing himself. He is term limited and out of office in 2 years. Doesn't every re-elected Florida governor become Senator anyway? Like every time.
To: Blue Highway
I meant House member not senator

To: montag813
I don’t recall Jeb ever being in the senate.
To: montag813
But being in NY, what is the likelihood another Republican would win a special election?
To: Blue Highway
But being in NY, what is the likelihood another Republican would win a special election? Strong. In Stefanik's last 3 elections she won between 59% and 65% of the vote.
