Why Are Fair-Admissions Activists Threatening New Lawsuits?
James G. Martin Center for Academic Renewal ^ | November 6, 2024 | T.J. Harker

Mere law has never impeded the Left’s pursuit of its political objectives. The same pattern holds in our universities. Indeed, achieving political objectives now appears to be the primary aim of many American colleges, and willful defiance of the law has been de rigueur in admissions offices for 60 years. The Civil Rights Act of 1964, Proposition 209 in California, Proposal 2 in Michigan, and countless other explicit prohibitions on racial discrimination have done nothing to inhibit the Left’s racist utopian scheming.

Thus, it’s no surprise that admissions offices nationwide are ignoring the Supreme Court’s 2023 ruling in Students for Fair Admissions v. Harvard, which, once again, outlawed race-based discrimination in admissions.

Fifteen months after the Supreme Court ruled in SFFA’s favor, the organization found itself sending letters to several elite universities. In these missives, SFFA alleged that Duke, Yale, and Princeton continue to violate the law, the Supreme Court notwithstanding.

There is the related matter of federal student loans.

I don’t want Santa ‘DEI’ Claws College sticking taxpayers and incompetent persons with burdensome or even unpayable debt.

All student loans should be co-signed by universities and secured by twice the value of real estate and/or margin loan securities.

Because of the SCOTUS decision, grounds for LARGE lawsuits are GREAT.

I think storefront campuses might get set up.

Discrimination against Asians and whites is not the only problem, cost is a problem too.

“All student loans should be co-signed by universities and secured by twice the value of real estate and/or margin loan securities.”

Forget “co signed”

Have the government get out of the student loan business, and let the colleges themselves issue and service the loans. This would turn into a disincentive to admit unqualified students, and offer useless majors.

The only sure way to make the universities obey the law is to put them into the market. Eliminate ALL funding for any purpose by the Federal government, of the schools themselves and of students. No grants. No loans. Price of education will plummet and many schools will fold or streamline to concentrate on actual education and training. Candy courses will go away. The monster schools with billions in in the bank will continue for a while with their political goals but will lose student numbers and their degrees will lose cachet.

Get the government money totally out of the system and most discrimination on any basis but merit will almost totally disappear. What remains will be inconsequential.

None of this crap happens in Asia, where their education standards run circles around ours - over there you take a test, you do well enough, you get in. This Holistic (think ‘rigged’) system for admissions has to end.
