U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) posted a video to X on Thursday promoting efforts, alongside their friends at FEMA, engaged in disaster cleanup. It is a demonstration of government efficiency at its absolute best.
Or maybe not. They were promptly ratioed into oblivion for the effort.
Worried about hurricane cleanup in Florida after Hurricane Milton? Fear not. These folks are on the case!
"Along with our partners at @FEMA, we will continue with disaster recovery as a result of Hurricane Milton," the video is captioned. "The safety of the American people is our top priority."

Shouldn’t they be at the border doing their job there?
I am in Florida and Milton did major damage to the trees in my neighborhood.
This video is an excellent example of Government Incompetence.
By myself I have moved more debris than these 14 bureaucrats.
I encourage FReepers to send this CBP videao to their friends.
I did, and immediately got pithy comments in reply.
Does anyone remember the earthquake in Ca where the highway collapsed on itself?
IIRC, a private company was. used to replace it and finished in a fraction of the time the state would have taken to.
PUT AMERICANS TO WORK.
When I heard of this and began watching it, I wanted to be fair. But when I watched it and realize all they were doing was transferring a cut up tree from one place to another, I got pissed off.
I would fully expect and appreciate this kind of thing if it were sacks of sand to keep water out of a hospital or something, or removing bricks and debris hand over hand in bucket brigade fashion because there were people under the rubble.
But this appears to have been removing a cut up tree from someone’s back yard.
And the more I think of it, it is probably some politician or government grifter’s house.
“””But this appears to have been removing a cut up tree from someone’s back yard.”””
And I believe we can accurately conclude that as soon as the 14 CBP Police moved the cut up tree to the street curb, that they retired for the day and had a long lunch.
This CBP video was such an obvious PR stunt in an attempt by the Biden Regime to divert attention from the disastrous press FEMA is getting for its incompetence in handling the aftermath of Helene in NC and TN.
The only thing government does well is to ruin private enterprise.
When I see those pre-cut logs, I see $$$ signs in firewood.
So, basically, they’re standing around for 90% of the time, and only actually doing something when a log is passed to them for two seconds?
Your point is correct, but it wasn’t a fraction of the time. They came in under the original scheduled completion. The company was awarded a contract with a HUGE early completion bonus that flowed to employees, thus showing that money incentives work wonders.
In government jobs, there are NO incentives to do high quality work or do it fast.
When I first saw the video, I thought this had to be a stunt set up to be funny...This could NOT be real....
BUT, EVIDENTLY, IT IS!!!!!!!!
How shameful.....

Reminds me of something I saw written on a bathroom wall in my youth.
The government is like your pecker, 98% of the time is doing nothing and the other 2% of the time it’s in the hole.
Oh, like a bucket brigade except with a log. I remember doing post hurricane ops in my yard in FL when we still lived there many times. If I had known these guys were available it would have been easier for me. 😳🤔
Hey..lighten up! You don’t expect government “workers” to work do you??? That would be so unjust and degrading.
Think sloped roof.
A determination based on belief that if the boss wasn't strong enough to pick up and carry the firewood to the pile, none of the burly looking men in the line were either.
At the start of my career in the mid-70s, I was a service engineer in industrial plants, paper mills, and power plants. On one start-up job in Longview, Washington, the union electricians called themselves “the fleas.” I thought “Huh?” and finally asked one of union guys “What does that mean?”
He replied “Fat Lazy Electrician.” You could simply NOT get those guys off the job when construction was complete. They were the world’s masters at featherbedding and getting nothing done. They were making far more than this new engineer was making and doing no work at all.
I formed my opinions of unions at an early age.
13 if them filed for and were granted lifetime disability payments after moving that chunk of firewood 20 feet.
“””13 if them filed for and were granted lifetime disability payments after moving that chunk of firewood 20 feet.”””
I am thinking the same thing. They are all on disability from straining their backs handing a log from one person to the next and part of their disability benefit is to get a daily massage treatment.
