Why would Donald Trump devote valuable campaign time to talking with podcast hosts about cocaine benders, golf swings and boxing legends?
The strategy driving this is no secret. Trump's campaign has acknowledged what it sees as a key to victory on Nov. 5: Turning out politically apathetic men.
His team believes there's a goldmine of votes to be tapped among men, especially young men, who dislike politicians and aren't keen on voting. But if they do happen to cast a ballot, they'd prefer Trump.
Reaching these men is step one. Trump's campaign co-manager shed light on this during the Republican summer convention. Chris LaCivita lamented the low turnout levels among gun-owners, and talked about scolding his own hunting buddies for not voting.
"What the hell are you doing?" LaCivita said, referring to his friends. "You've gotta show up."
The math here is simple: Most polls show Trump with a solid lead among male voters, while trailing badly among women. Some polls, though not all, even show him gaining ground among young men. If he turns out more men, the thinking goes, it could clinch a close election.
It's a concern weighing on Democrats.

Sounds like a thankless task; the rats, after all, have Tampon Timmy.
It was how he won in 2016. He turned out people in favor of draining the swamp, which means creating total upheaval in politics and erasing anyone with a political history. There is an enormous number of people who will support that.
Now there are two contrasting realities about the numbers on this. There is a famous saying . . . You show me a candidate who is depending on new voters and I will show you a loser. And the contrasting reality to that is that turnout is 70% and maybe a bit lower.
For those who don’t understand terminology, turnout is the percentage of people who are registered to vote that actually do vote. Yes, that excludes adults who are eligible to vote but did not bother to register, so there’s even more ore to be mined.
That’s why the messaging should be upheaval, swamp training and absolutely not anything about taxes or spending or really even foreign policy. If those arrays of verbiage was going to attract that particular batch of people to vote it would have already done so.
One of the great frustrations as a young hitchhiking drifter who engaged in political discussions in every bar he went to around the nation was meeting all those old guys in their 30s who were so passionate and adamant in their conservative political views but who had never registered or voted and probably never would, it was like that everywhere I went, over and over, and over.
Deer hunters need to take 1 hour break from sitting in a tree stand and vote.
Rednecks really are stupid then.....
That is how they talk, simple minded like that.
White men elect presidents.
