I like the Nebraska and Maine methods. Thus cheating only affects the district it occurs in (which are likely lost anyway) and the two at large electors. Stuffing the ballot boxes in Philadelphia or Detroit won’t flip all the electoral votes in the states, just two in each state

But under Maine’s constitution, a bill can only become a law 90 days after it’s passed. There are 46 days until the November 5 election and 87 days until electoral votes are set to be cast. Democrats could circumvent the 90-day window if they have a two-thirds vote in each chamber. But they don’t have that.

From the article. They missed two important details. One, constitional amendments must originate from the state legislature and pass with a 2/3rds majority and Two, they must be ratified by a majority of the voters. So there is no way that this is ever going to change in Maine.
