MSNBC anchor Alex Witt questioned Sunday whether former President Donald Trump and his campaign needed to tone down their rhetoric after the 2024 GOP nominee faced an apparent would-be assassin for the second time in three months.

They are expecting the wrong side to tone down the rhetoric.

IOW, they are saying, don't oppose us if you want to live longer. If you want the death threats to stop, do it our way. Just capitulate and we'll stop trying to kill you off.

Provocatively, modesty, are subjective terms not objective.

It sounds like your approach is of the philosophy that "There are no absolutes; everything is relative" which makes a reasonable answer useless to the "modern" generations that let criminals go free while condemning those who still observe righteous standards and reject worldly ones.

You asked a question, and I considered it not to be rhetorical. I would guess that you might dismiss a firmly conservative mindset on other behavioral standards as well. So be it.

For me, in 1947 when I was quite impressionable at the beginning of the hormonal change at the age of eleven, it was this song "Why Do They Always Say No": came out:

Why do they always say no
When they know they mean yes all the time
You ask a girlie for a kiss or two
She'll let you know that's something I don't do
How can they tell such a lie
And still look you straight in the eye
Whenever they say no to you go right ahead
Cause it's 10 to 1 that they mean yes instead
Oh, why do they always say no
When you know they mean yes all the time

Why do they always say no
When you know they mean yes all the time
You start to love them and they pout and fret
Down in their hearts they want all they can get
What keeps them acting that way
They don't mean a word that they say
A girl that said she'd never marry me
She's the mother of my happy family
Why do they always say no
You know they mean yes all the time
So who judges (relativelisticly, not absolutely) that one is a rapist?

And what is the punishment for dressing provocatively or not modestly enough.

When the subject (not object?) dresses not merely alluringly or fetchingly, but quite provocatively and says 'No" in the middle of a petting session?

Or is it when the aggressor comes on inappropriately and forcefully when the subject is arrayed modestly and rejects the advances with an oppositional 'no hands' "NO!" at the outset?

(Please don't resort to the "everything is relative" philosophically false logic.)

"Surely in vain the net is spread in the sight of any bird" (Prov. 1:17 AV).

'When wisdom entereth into thine heart, and knowledge is pleasant unto thy soul; Discretion shall preserve thee, understanding shall keep thee:

(1) To deliver thee from the way of the evil (hu)man, from the (hu)man that speaketh froward things; Who leave the paths of uprightness, to walk in the ways of darkness; Who rejoice to do evil, and delight in the frowardness of the wicked; Whose ways are crooked, and they froward in their paths:

(2) To deliver thee from the strange woman, even from the stranger which flattereth with her words; Which forsaketh the guide of her youth, and forgetteth the covenant of her God. For her house inclineth unto death, and her paths unto the dead. None that go unto her return again, neither take they hold of the paths of life.

That thou mayest walk in the way of good men, and keep the paths of the righteous. For the upright shall dwell in the land, and the perfect shall remain in it" (Prov. 2:10-21 AV; hints superscripted).
What if its an old lady with bad taste in dressing?

There might still be women who desire to be persons respected with great honor as faithful wives, a role that has to be learned, one which is not an evolution from playing the provocative whore that will give in without marriage prospects in mind, if the price is right.

A good girl learning how to be an adored faithful wife, learns this from her own mother (not from seducer or an abortionist):

"Likewise, ye wives, be in subjection to your own husbands; that, if any obey not the word, they also may without the word be won by the conversation of the wives; While they behold your chaste conversation coupled with fear. Whose adorning let it not be that outward adorning of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel;  But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price
For after this manner in the old time the holy women also, who trusted in God, adorned themselves, being in subjection unto their own husbands: Even as Sara obeyed Abraham, calling him lord: whose daughters ye are, as long as ye do well, and are not afraid with any amazement.
Likewise, ye husbands, dwell with them according to knowledge, giving honour unto the wife, as unto the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life; that your prayers be not hindered" (1 Peter 3:1-7 AV; bolding for emphasis)
Women who dress provocatively and speak thus boldly, are without the honor due to a decent woman, my FRiend. That is unarguably an absolute standard for receiving her favor and the pursuer thinking he is blessed with it.

Hear this, you readers, especially women of eternal quality:

"Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies.
The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her, so that he shall have no need of spoil. She will do him good and not evil all the days of her life" (Prov. 31:10-12 AV).
I know this from experience, because my Dad married a woman virtuous from birth to the grave, and was faithful to her. When she passed in their 65th year of connubiality, his sorrow was almost overwhelming. In another year, he was gone, too

By way of comparison, not fully grasping the value of a woman's nobility, I entered into a relationship and married in a way contrary to that of my parents, and enjoyed great sorrow for it, for my wife, and for myself, for the fifty-two years since divorcement.

Take a hint, my FRiend.

And, yes, I enjoy asking stupid questions. Get over yourself, my freeper friend.

I see you still have a big hurdle to get over yourself, brother; now is a good time to start about what is effectively a prostitute and what is not.

We have more important battles right now to fight.

Yet finally, it is a man's honor that is at risk here, in all of society, and worth fighting for.

Ask Donald if that is not so. And Stormy. And Melanie. And you might add, Hillary.

My question as you call it was posted on a thread about Trump as the victim being at fault for another persons actions. You selected the part of my answer, which was a victimhood example, to troll. I appreciate your time and effort to anaylyse the major deficiencies in myself. If that's the world you live in that's your business. But Trump in the end is not responsible for anothers actions.

Thank you so much for your response to my comments on your posts. You have been patient. My calling your question "stupid" was not true, that was just my opnion, which is not always right.

But it is a question that has plagued the human race since the day of Eve, in which the Bible story of her moment with the seducing serpent, illustrating a woman's choice of whether to respond, or to refer the scintillating scaly persuasive snake to her authority sources, her husband and their Father, Jehovah Elohim.

This theme of undercutting one's goodness and authority, running trough the Scriptures, fell on the shepherd-turned-king David, when he was allowed to view the warrior's wife Bathsheba, who was (deliberately?) bathing on her rooftop, in full view and not far from the chief magistrate's castle.

Most likely, you are quite aware of the account (2 Sam. 11:2+). So in it, remembering that type of clothing was not the issue (nor that of Eve), considering Bathsheba's decision to submit to David's responses, my stupid question is: Did that make David merely a seducer; or by using his authority, was he to be thought of as a rapist? And trying to escape the accusation of adultery, did his use of authority to get Uriah eliminated make David also a murderer, or only Uriah's commander, General Joab? And from whom did David's thoughts originate? Or Bathsheba's?(Or Eve's?)(Or

These are not easy questions to answer, particularly if one believes that among rules for living rightly, there must be some absolutes, eh?

My world's business is that of righteousness, to which allegiance to the Holy Messiah, Jesus of Nazareth, is a decision I had to make once faced that there was nowhere else to go to obtain forgiveness and a judicial pardon for all my deliberate or thoughtless errors.

But the resolution of the original question does rest on whether there is One Righteous Absolute, or not, from which the authority of humans to make logical decisions arises. Eh?

My Dad taught me this:"Son, I am responsible to My Heavenly Father for my errors, no one else's. Remember that." I assume that applies to me. If I have given you cause to be offended, that is my fault, not yours crazyhorse691. Perhaps you also will forgive me for presuming your thoughts to arise from stupidity.
