Has anybody experienced DNS not resolving a business URL correctly?
I buy sleep apnea supplies from Verus Healthcare (www.verus.com). When I got to verus.com, DNS is resolving to LinkedIn! It is resolving to a specific person profile on LinkedIn, too, not just the general address for LinkedIn (it resolves to Joshua Schoen on LinkedIn). In fact, it is entering Joshua Schoen's name in the search box in LinkedIn.
I tried three different browsers on my Mac (Safari, Firefox, Chrome). Same results. I cleared the cache in the browsers. Same results in all three. I restarted my Mac. Same results.
Then I went to verus.com on my iPad (connecting via wifi in the house and same rhome outer) and it also resolved to LinkedIn.
So I thought I should restart my home router. But, before doing that, I thought I'd try my mobile carrier's data, so I disconnected my phone from the home network and switched T-Mobile 5G. Same results!! Using Safari on the phone over 5G and entering "verus.com" resolves to LinkedIn.
Could you do me a favor? Try going to www.verus.com and see what happens.
Open the browser’s debug window (F12) and watch the network traffic. You’re probably getting directed
Your result duplicated in South Texas. Likely a redirect, rather than DNS,
Not versus.com. AdaptHealth.com
Simple Google search resolves issue ...
Did you try NDS or MfC ?
Have you tried redirecting your DNS queries to different servers?
You could try using Open DNS servers:
208.67.222.222
208.67.220.220
Even if you have a dynamically assigned IP address, you can manually specify the DNS servers your PC points to.
Also, check your local HOSTS file to make sure nothing suspicious is going on there.
Yes, Verus is an Adapt Health company. But the direct link to verus has always worked in the past.
Thanks for reminding me I can get there via Adapt Health.
I thought about using different DNS servers, but ruled that out after mobile data on T-Mobile had the same result.
No, have not tried any network tools. Thanks.
Does the same for me, and I’m on Starlink, never heard of Joshua Schoen, and use OpenDNS (208.67.222.222 and 208.67.220.220) as my DNS servers.
I'm guessing that they somehow botched the transition. Also, it's very hard to get to the snapworx.com site from Verus Healthcare. I had to scroll to the bottom of the Verus page to "Shop & Order" and then click on "Order PAP Supply" which took me to the Patient Portal at the SnapWorx site.
User friendliness and ease of use are not their strong suits. But this new SnapWorx hosted site looks promising:
Isn’t that amazing?
I assume at some point Adapt Health bought Verus. They probably kept the registration of verus.com and redirected it to their own website. But then they let the registration lapse and someone else grabbed it.
I'm always amazed at how fast the web crawlers capture everything!
Adapt Health has been acquiring a lot of companies. I'd guess they are trying to do a better job of consolidating the sites of all the companies they bought.
WhoIs shows this for verus.com:
Registered On: 1995-08-15
Expires On: 2031-06-26
Updated On: 2022-10-16
They are very private on their domain registration and use proxies to hide the true owner.
To release/renew your IP address, and flush DNS on Windows:
Search box “Commend prompt”
Type “ipconfig /release” and press Enter.
Type “ipconfig /renew” and press Enter.
Type “ipconfig /flushdns” and press Enter.
Thanks, but others around the country report the same problem; in addition, I experienced it on both my cable internet and my mobile phone internet.
I agree. Someone probably redirected the URL to that specific page.
