VDH comments on the debate

The Candy Crowley Debate

What do we remember, if anything now, about the second presidential debate of 2012?

Not whether Obama or Romney won.

But only how CNN’s Candy Crowley blew up her career and embarrassed CNN—by outrageously hijacking the debate, and as a partisan, fact-checking (and erroneously so) Romney in efforts to help Obama.

So, too, we won’t remember much of these debate details, given the shameful role of the two ABC moderators.

Harris came out calm, exceeded low expectations, repeated well her memorized talking points, avoided until the last 20 minutes her trademark word-salads, and repeatedly baited and incited an increasingly angrier Trump.

Harris called for unity, while smearing him as a racist and repeating the old lies about Charlottesville, “bloodbath,” the 2025 project, and Trump’s supposed support for a federal ban on abortion.

Trump might seem to have matched or beaten Harris if one only reads a transcript of the entire debate—given she never honestly would or could reconcile her past and antithetical present positions.

My prediction is no one will hear from Harris in any measurable way from now until the election. It will now be the basement strategy from here on out. Guaranteed.

I solemnly swear that I will never again provide an audience for ABC moderators: David Muir or Linsey Davis, or any of their ilk, so long as I shall live. Amen!

It's time for a complete media divorce.

VDH gives a succinct and clear review of the “debate.”

At the end Hanson noted: “So, the real story was how ABC’s moderators ruined the debate, their own reputations, and their network’s brand.”

The question to be asked is how the ABC moderators, their reputations and their network, all of which had already sunk into an abyss of diseased excrement, could get anymore “ruined.”

No doubt

That was it

She took pretend questions in a reversed play from Disney, the people who introduced her to her husband- friends, business colleagues, homeys

You won’t see her again

Best analysis by far of anything I’ve read.

Nixon beat JFK during their debates, but was called a loser because of his unshaven image on TV

The problem is that it’s only “ruined” with conservatives, a portion of the populace they care nothing for anyway. Trump lent credence to the station by agreeing for a debate heavily stacked against him. I love Trump, but he is not disciplined enough as a debater to skillfully manage a situation like that.

abc does not care how biased they appear

they would only care if it affected their bottom line

if everyone who thought that abc took sides in the debate

canceled their cable tv

maybe

maybe they would care

What the ABC “moderators” showed is just how precisely aligned their thinking and world view is with the Dems. It would never occur to them to “fact check” anything Harris says, because they *know* those things to be true and believe everyone else does, too. Therefore, no “fact checking” is required.

But they assume everything Trump says is a lie, and see it as their duty to point that out.

If “fact checking” is to be applied, it needs to be applied to every statement made by each “debater”. Good luck with that.

“So, the real story was how ABC’s moderators ruined the debate, their own reputations, and their network’s brand.”

Victor Davis Hanson is off base. He can’t see the forest for the trees.

The real story is how the RNC has continued to allow this to happen for decades. Moderators like Candy Crowley, Mike Wallace and David Muir are just symptoms of a greater problem. The RNC is the problem. They don’t protect their candidate and they ignore their voters. That’s the real story.

The RNC allows it because they are in on the game. They are the eunuchs who are given the job to harrumph loudly to disguise the fact that we have a one party government and have for decades.

The Loser of the debate last night was ABC!!! Their credibility died BIG TIME. Not that they weren't already on life support but here would have been a great opportunity for them to make somewhat of a comeback in fairness.

NOT!!!!

ANY thinking independents, will have turned on them and HARRIS last night.

Harris doesn’t have to speak to anyone because her complete army of acolytes in the media will do all her talking for her.

As a corollary, and to answer all of those who wonder why Trump didn't curb stomp Harris last night, it's because the target audience for the debate was Liftime Network types.

Trump's only path to victory with that crowd was to try and let the Vice President destroy herself.

We are some of the fortunate who were able to experience Rush when he first began in Sacramento. I had already ceased paying any attention to ABC-CBS-NBC. When MSLSD came along, I never bothered. Rush basically banned anything from MSLSD. He would state that just mentioning them for 2 minutes on his massive show brought more viewers and listeners than they ever got on their own.

If President Trump can return to the Oval Office, there is hope.
