It’s an Alford plea, similar to a no contest plea. I think he pleaded so his dad could grant him clemency before he leaves office. If he goes to trial he risks the process continuing past dear old dads expiration date.

But his father could still preemptively pardon him, even if he’s just on trial.

No, it was a standard guilty plea. He tried the the Alford…
