STERLING HEIGHTS, Mich. (FOX 2) - A volunteer with Citizens on Patrol in Sterling Heights helped rescue a 7-year-old girl from a man who was attempting to abduct her last Tuesday, according to police.
Scott Vanluven has been a volunteer with the group, which helps police keep streets safe, for nearly two decades.
"Never in the 19 years have I seen anything like this," he said. "At least happen in front of my face."
Vanluven was not on patrol when he witnessed an altercation at the entrance of North Clinton River Park in Sterling Heights, he said. He was coming home from work.

Keep a close eye on your children.
Here is a written article from last week regarding the kidnapping attempt.
I didn’t manage to find the perp’s name.
No details is the identifier.
Endi Bala - a genuine African African.
My mistake. Bala is a name from the Indian subcontinent.
Scott is a true hero. Was the scumbag sentenced?
Paul is also a true hero.
There are good people out there.
Most people are good people.
It only happened few days ago.
Good find.
Well gee I wonder why it took effort to track down? /heavy sarc
Most people are good people. But not everyone has the courage to intervene in such a situation.
Witness the number of cars that just drove by.
Hence Scott and Paul are above just good people. They are true brave heroes. JMHO.
> Most people are good people. <
I would agree with that. However, many of them freeze in situations like this one. They just don’t know quite what to do.
That’s when you hope a hero steps forward.
He had the advantage of being a cop. Cops are trained to be able to quickly assess and act when they see a situation.
I used to live in Sterling Heights, generally a very good city. Lot’s of Iraqi Christian’s. Almost the opposite of Dearbornistan.
Yup. Well at least the good cops are so trained.
It's called situational awareness and knowing how to react instead of freezing up or pretending nothing is happening.
The technical term for what most civilians experience is "emotional-induced blindness" aka "that can't really be happening."
Re: emotional-induced blindness, found this online:
The emotional attentional blink (EAB), also known as emotion-induced blindness, refers to a phenomenon in which the brief appearance of a task-irrelevant, emotionally arousing image captures attention to such an extent that individuals cannot detect target stimuli for several hundred ms after the emotional stimulus.
Scott and Paul clearly did not suffer from EAB.
“Scott is a true hero. Was the scumbag sentenced?”
The attempting kidnapping just happened last week. The perp tried to take another girl earlier that day.
The old adage that stranger abductions are very rare is not as true as it used to be. The perp is an ANTIFA soy boy gamer looking young man. I doubt he has interacted with many actual live females very often in his life. That’s what social media does to young boys. It prevents them from developing into productive law-abiding young men.
That’s right.
Thank you...well that explains the no mention. How dare they cover for illegal alien child snatchers the bastards.
.
“He had the advantage of being a cop. Cops are trained to be able to quickly assess and act when they see a situation.”
I don’t think he was actually a cop. He was a Citizen Patrol volunteer.
The video says citizen patrol officer, so you are correct. Up here, we call them neighbourhood watch.
