I get where you mean it from, but I can and I will.
Aw, that's sad. /s
Places like Camden, Detroit, Baltimore (the list is long) have been dystopian for decades.
As long as the poor get chump change for not working in return for votes, it will continue.
Chump change, drug addicted etc.
Honestly I cannot comprehend such a dismal existence for myself, let alone the children. It is horrifying what many of these “policies” have done to people.
I forget who the person was and I paraphrase that knew minimum wage would create a permanent failed class of people. And those who couldn’t rise to the level to justify being paid even a minimum, would be subject to the poverty of the governmental state which the taxpayer would provide.
That is how a I see this longstanding, 30 year Starbucks closing. The low-life does not have the privilege to a cup of coffee. A cup of coffee represents in my mind, a societal norm. A coffee shop where you go and meet friends, colleagues, or even an initial job interview. A step down from the after work stop at the bar, but a step up from the street. It is not just about an expensive cup of coffee, it is an exclusive societal experience for Gen X and under.
One might even surmise these closings exemplify that the coffee privileges’ is being taken away. In cities ‘coffee shops’ have been part of the cultural fabric for a long time. Think of the sitcom, “Friends.”
One can tell I have been contemplating this one for a few days. Losing places like coffee shops tears at the fabric and continuity city life and if that community is failing, what comes next?
It’s not just coffee shops.
I notice as we go to community or church clambakes, chili cookoffs, ethnic festivals, etc. (Moose, KofC, Legion, etc.) most are run by folks over 40, and I see few (if any) youngsters interested in putting it together or even attending.
The local Halloween parade is no more because nobody wants to run it (and hear all the carping on social media)
It’s all the little things that made America great.
Worst part - the commies in charge are destroying our heritage on purpose.
It'll crash.
They never will.
You can convince someone they have been lied to. You will not convince someone they followed that lie all their life.
Destruction of the family unit. Lost the ideal of community too. Two Halloweens ago our street had very few kids. I asked several parents...where are all the kids? The answer, parents took them to a new neighborhood with big homes. They get better candy over there. Funny...really? The Snickers are better over there than the one I am handing out? Greed, FOMO, peer pressure but truly loss of a sense of community. Last Halloween nobody on our street had a porch light on to hand out candy. The street was dark and silent.
This year many of our church events had excessive security and police presence. All a show of force to keep the wildling ones away. Who wants to go to any of the festivals if you have to be afraid? The wild ones show up, just show up and cause havoc.
Like I said in post 1, a 30 year old Starbucks closing in NYC, is just a symptom of a much wider issue.
Quite a list! What do you attribute these Starbucks closings to?
“The closure of 16 Starbucks stores is attributed to safety concerns reported by employees, including drug-related incidents and other disruptive behaviors.” -—— According to intrusive AI
