Surveying American institutions, one searches in earnest for even a few organizations or systems that progressives have been unable to control. News story after news story confirms that indeed that one, that one, and, yes, that one too have all succumbed to ideological capture.
Naïfs like myself once held out hope for science and mathematics. How could geometry be racist or gravitational waves foster systemic oppression? Sadly, we were wrong. The latest institution to go is medical education.
A recent essay at Inside Higher Ed bravely declares that all prospective doctors must be trained not to become skilled surgeons or perceptive dermatologists. Rather, their training must direct them towards “health equity.” This shift pushes doctors beyond surgeries or appointments to perform advocacy against systems of oppression and various “-isms.” Many medical schools have already adopted such advocacy-focused instruction.
For example, the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill has an entire center dedicated to health-equity research, the stated goal of which is to dismantle systems of oppression, systemic racism, and other internalized oppressions. Among its recommended resources are the 1619 Project’s podcast, Richard Delgado’s Critical Race Theory: An Introduction, and Becoming an Anti-Racist Church. What any of these resources has to do with medical education is left to the imagination.
One resource that the Center for Health Equity Research recommends is worth further consideration. Published by the American Medical Association, “Advancing Health Equity: A Guide to Language, Narrative and Concepts” is a foundational document of the health-equity movement and exposes it as little more than an Orwellian project of re-education.
Per the document, health equity seeks to disrupt harmful narratives about individualism and meritocracy to replace them with alternatives grounded in critical race and gender theories.

This is how to go from a world class leader in medicine and medical advancement to be come dithering hapless idiots behind a test tube.
Its not just sad somehow...its enraging that actual science and the scientific method is being replaced with blather and an orthodoxy that, in the past, caused the Spanish Inquisition and witch hunts.
Oops, sorry—wrong thread.
(Posting too early!)
This DEI/Social Justice war against the sciences will run its course - as the Church did in the Middle Ages - destroying vast amounts of knowledge in its name.
Eventually, we will emerge from this new Dark Age which is upon us. But the world will be vastly different, as was Europe when the Renaissance began. Will it be better or worse? Who knows? But it will be different, as academics and scholars have to relearn all that was lost, but some bits will be lost for centuries or never rediscovered.
Such is the curse of extreme ideologies.
30% of USA medical doctors are foreign born.
Adjusted for inflation, average compensation has declined and individual work loads have increased.
Highly talented USA born white men are just walking away from med school, from the profession, and from the political BS.
Not just the doctors.
Take a look at the employees for every health system in Upstate NY, especially the rural parts.
Note to retired physicians: Go concierge. I don’t know about anyone else, but to see someone I trust, in addition to paying cash, I’d be happy to sign a medical malpractice liability waiver.
And I’ll bet I’m not alone...
Anytime I go to a Drs office I look around to see if it’s a diverse office. If the the staff and the Drs represent a very diverse background..... I walk out 🤣🤣🤣
Look no further than Wake Forest. Their medial school has advertised how “gender inclusive” they are (meaning: if you’re a tranny, you will be considered the cream of the crop). This is the same med school where a med student jabbed a patient who didn’t get his/her pronouns right.
This has been going on for the past seven or eight years in many medical schools.
Wake Forest “medicine” is a joke.
It certainly is. The other disgusting system is the college and school of medicine “ranking” system. Pay enough moolah or promote enough leftism, and watch your school rise in the rankings magically.
“health equity seeks to disrupt harmful narratives about individualism and meritocracy.”
What’s “harmful” about these things?

“The latest institution to go is medical education.“
Hell it may have been the first. The year that med schools (probably Harvard but I don’t remember) started dumbing down their standards for women at the direct demand of the NAGs was…1970. The NAGs thought MORE women should make it past the entrance tests than was happening in real life. 54 years. This is an old story.
I don’t think concierge medicine is legal in NYS.
