Was it a BIG knife?
Seem to recall it was about 4 or 5inch Buck knife.
Impressive to say the least!
Glock 20 is the go-to pistol for bear protection in Alaska. The most popular round to use is the Buffalo Bore 220 gr. Only diehards in their 70s and 80s carry a revolver.
Well, that’s good news, I have a 20, and it’s closer than my revolver.
So he had a “Kodiak Moment.”
What kind of rifle, article doesn’t say.
IIRC, the bear was attacking his dog, or the dog distracted the bear. IIRC the Freeper was on top of the bear’s back when he killed it. (Or - I have completely disremembered it!)
Wow. Freeper Kanawa’s attack was in 2006! I’m old.
“Wow. Freeper Kanawa’s attack was in 2006! I’m old.”
As for myself, I only feel older. :)
Shakespeare said it well:
” All the world’s a stage,
And all the men and women merely players;
They have their exits and their entrances;
And one man in his time plays many parts,
His acts being seven ages.
And Al Stewart sang it well: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q2g0hrrKLNw
The 10mm is gaining ground on the king the 44mag. When it comes to having a handgun for bear defense.
Having tracked and shot several wounded black bears with my 41 and 44mags.
I have found my 315gr HCWFN 44mag loads out of one of my Ruger Redhawks, at around 1300fps settles the matter quickly.
I suggest you ping marktwain and furnish as much detail and firearms used statistics as possible.
