The Daily Signal ^ | 9 July 2024 | S.A. McCarthy

Conservatives in France suffered defeat in the final round of national elections, despite winning the highest percentage of the popular vote.

In last week’s first round of voting, the conservative National Rally party led the far-left New Popular Front and the establishment moderates Ensemble by wide margins, prompting the NFP and Ensemble to form a tacit alliance. On Sunday, that alliance paid off.

the GOP is to busy being bipartisan and wanting that 2 seconds of good press, so they are incapable of learning anything. In fact Reps are worse than Dems, Dems are at least committed to the “cause”, Reps fold like a cheap tent.

The GOP has always had terrible organization. From state GOP chairs right down to the county. For them it’s about patronage jobs, for the Dems it’s about getting their candidate a W.

You know, of course, that the shaky quakey “moderates” could almost as easily joined with the National Rally conservatives and taken the leadership away from the New Popular Front, but NOOO, that would have been surrendering to events, and some folks just cannot stand prosperity, especially the prosperity of others.

It is sort of inevitable. The left is dedicated to the collective, ruled by an elite. The GOP is not dedicated to anything at this point in history, and everyone is there for his own motives. No surprise the rats act like a unit, like a beehive or an anthill. The only division among them is who gets to be the queen bee or the queen ant.

Not much detail on how to do that. Barely a sentence in the whole article about this. Another crappy right wing journalistic piece.

Yep, the Dems operate as a hive mind for sure.

I despise that I will be forced to vote for a Rep because the alternative is not doable.

Yeah the article appears to catastrophize a scenario rather than offer a solution

The GOP should run like they are behind, because they ARE behind. The masses are stupid, distracted and easily led. The media will lead them right to Kamala.

It is an uphill battle.

“Look around you. Pick up any newspaper and read the headlines. Isn’t it coming? Isn’t it here? Every single thing I told you? Isn’t Europe swallowed already and we’re stumbling on to follow? Everything I said is contained in a single word—collectivism. And isn’t that the god of our century? To act together. To think—together. To feel—together. To unite, to agree, to obey. To obey, to serve, to sacrifice. Divide and conquer—first. But then—unite and rule. We’ve discovered that one at last. Remember the Roman Emperor who said he wished humanity had a single neck so he could cut it? People have laughed at him for centuries. But we’ll have the last laugh. We’ve accomplished what he couldn’t accomplish. We’ve taught men to unite. This makes one neck ready for one leash. We’ve found the magic word. Collectivism.” — Ellsworth Toohey, The Fountainhead. The left are rioting because they got bupkis. They got the most seats, but are well short of a majority. Macron’s center right and the right have almost 60% of the seats.

[Here’s a look at the final results from the second round. According to the Interior Ministry, the leftist coalition has taken the most seats in parliament, with at least 181. Macron’s centrists have more than 160 seats. Marine Le Pen’s far-right National Rally have 143 seats after leading in the first round.]

It’s a victory without the power to make policy.

Unfortunately in a democracy it is the not very intelligent, uninformed, easily influenced muddled middle that determine election outcomes and a nation’s fate. Rational, decent people often lose.

They have a great organization - the old frat boy connection that keeps them connected to the rest of the good ol boy network, you know like drunk Dade Phelan. They all know who they have to network with to go-along. The system worked for them, until suddenly it isn’t because the populist rebellion was not on the left, but on the right.

The French weren’t about to become majority conservatives overnight; but suffering has a way of changing voting habits — as it did before Ronald Reagan was elected.

They won’t. Led by Bill Krystal, Rick Wilson and Steve Schmidt, they’ll be wondering why Pubbies don’t win.

Next, they will go to a luncheon with Ronna, just to be sure they’re on the winning team.

GOP is going the way of the Tories in Britain. That’s what happens when you become a Party About Nothing.
