Better do smart watches, too.
Not gonna fly. After the deadly cowardice and incompetence of law enforcement during the massacre in the school in Uvalde Texas, no child shall be deprived of the means of calling their own parent to come rescue them as one mother did there after getting past cops trying to stop her.
First smart thing NYC has done.
Jam cell phone signals inside the buildings. A lot easier and a lot cheaper to enforce.
The bootlicking fearful principals that currently run NY’s schools won’t enforce it, especially after the parents storm his office and threaten him.
Nope. Cell phones are a human right now and you can’t take away some gang bangers human rights.
fwiw in our local district, the phones have to be put up during class time.
All of the rooms have racks for storage during class.
It’s my understanding that it has been effective.
Enforcing a restriction on public school pupils? In NYC?
A rare moment of lucidity. I hope it lasts.
Good move
This comes a couple of days after Hochul/Adams proposed a ban on face masks. Maybe they are growing a brain.
Hocul signs bill reforming teacher evaluation system in New York
...The new system allows districts and BOCES to negotiate performance review plans locally, without requiring student performance measures...
Bold is mine.
And this is continuing proof, as if it were needed, that kids aren't students.
Kids are just grist for Deep State's diploma mills.
Update from Oregon...

This new policy was adopted by

after a girl was ambushed and beaten by a male student who claimed to be female. That assault was captured on video by many cell phones. I proudly helped make that video go viral. That video led to the resignation of the superintendent.
The ability for our children to document abuse and curriculum and call for help from school is an imperative security measure that should be determined by parents, not the school boards who are defending the policies putting our children at risk while at school.
The
@TigardTualSD
has banned cell phones, not to protect your child, but to protect themselves.
