UPDATE: More Details Emerge as President Trump Narrows Running Mate List to Three Candidates

Anticipation over selection over who President Trump will select as his running-mate reached fever pitch over the weekend as the 45th President proclaimed just before a rally in Philadelphia he had already made the pick in his mind.

Now, reports have emerged that the list of contenders for the coveted number two spot has narrowed.

NewsNation has learned Trump has finalized his list to three candidates: North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum, Ohio Senator J.D. Vance, and Florida Senator Marco Rubio. CNN and NBC have also revealed the same three names are finalists on Trump’s list.

Trump’s original list also included Senators Tim Scott (R-SC) and Tom Cotton (R-AR), Representatives Byron Donalds (R-FL) and Elise Stefanik (R-NY), as well as former Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Ben Carson in addition to the three finalists.

NBC further reports that the choice will likely come down to Burgum and Vance. NBC notes that Burgum has made a massive impression on Trump, particularly with his loyalty, looks, and wealth.

Another point in Burgum’s favor is that his understated demeanor means there’s no risk of him outshining the 45th President. Trump wants workhorses to help advance his agenda, not folks looking to rush to the cameras.

Moreover, Burgum will also be in attendance at Trump’s debate with Joe Biden this Thursday according to NewsNation. This is potentially significant because Trump has said that his pick would be at the showdown.

It is unknown at this point whether Vance and Rubio will be in attendance as well.

“ Dear god, not Rubio.”
***********************

I have, with good reason, considered Rubio to be TREACHEROUS ever since his COMPREHENSIVE IMMIGRATION REFORM antics years ago. He is NOT TO BE TRUSTED.

This is more of the same, relying on Trump saying he's picked, hasn't told anyone, and leaving it all up to speculation.

Burgum, maybe, but adds nothing. Pence was boring but added religious conservatives.

Rubio and Donalds (and even DeSantis), loses electoral votes so is distraction at best.

Senators? I don't see it.

Sanders? She dismissed herself from the running, but I doubt she'd turn Trump down.

Huckabee? That'd help with religious conservatives but Trump doesn't really need them so much this time around.

Gabbard? Independent, checks off a lot of boxes, and would add to the base.

Who else actually adds new voters, draws from Dems and Independents?

Rand Paul?

Pence was the right choice in 2016. Trump needed the religious conservatives. They were not entirely sold on Trump back then.

“None of the 3 make sense.”

Burgum sounds very impressive. Has an extremely solid record of accomplishment in the business world. Self-made millionaire. In other words, he did not have to pander or trick people into voting for him to get where he is.

Agree. I’m still 50/50 it’s going to be someone I’ve never heard of. Or some curve ball like Mikey Flynn.

“Big, beautiful supporter of our wonderful friends. Lovely on the eyes too, I mean she could give my wife Melania a run for her money.”

Lovely on the eyes??? Give Melania a run for her money???

There is not another person on earth who would say that.

That sentence reveals that you have escaped from a mental institution.

Burgham. The others have a job already.

When Trump’s gone it’s not on him. Can he do everything in 4 years? 2026 will tell-the people will have the say.

I still think it will be VGR, the name that barely anyone mentions here.

Burgum seems like a good guy but doesn’t help the ticket. Youngkin as good as Burgum as politician but a better VP choice because he might win Virginia for Trump and that matters more.

Youngkin is not as good as Burgum as a politician but better strategically

Oh, oh, oh, “my wife Melania.”

I just glanced at the word Melania, and we all know Melania Trump. Men don’t usually name their wife on this site.

I’m from Ohio - losing Vance would mean another hard fought Senate Race. The Dems will keep the Sherrod Brown seat this year and put up a vicious fight for Vance’s seat in 2026.

Keep JD Vance in the Seante where he is needed.

Supposed Trump Criteria: loyalty, looks, and wealth

Why, that’s nearly as good as skin color, gender and how you have sex!

Trump might think rubio will bring the Hispanics to vote for him. The three white dudes are good but won’t have the ability to increase the vote count.
