The same principles show why the very idea of State permits to carry are Constitutionally absurd once the 14th Amendment is applied, as the Federal government would otherwise have no power to enforce the right of the people to carry against the States. Unfortunately, the power to enforce anything carries with it the power to violate. For a discussion of these principles, see this article I published on FR in 2005, well before Bruen.
