Ukraine ping
Why would they need NATO-supplied weapons? The country has always been awash in Russian weapons. Ramzan Kadyrov, Putin’s personal bum boy, is a Chechen temporarily on loan from Chechnya’s home-grown jihadist movement. His father fought in the First Chechen War against Russia, switched sides in the Second in exchange for Putin awarding him Chechnya as his personal fief. Putin may have doubted Kadyrov Senior’s loyalty, bumped him off, paving the way for Junior to step up.
In his heart of hearts, Ramzan Kadyrov may think Putin bumped off his dad, and is perhaps biding his time. That may account for the delay in Kadyrov declaring his allegiance to Putin after Prigozhin announced his march on Moscow. Bottom line is that there are tens of millions of restive Muslims in Russia, including a number of leaders on a short leash who may see the diversion of resources to Ukraine as the daylight they need to mount a bid to rid themselves of the Russian yoke.
Quite right.
