What happens when you legally change your sex because you are a transsexual?

Even if you change the sex on your birth certificate what about your so-called dead name that transsexuals talk about?

So for example , if you were born male and your name is Andrew on your birth certificate, but now you’ve decided you want to be female and go by the name Amber, can you also change the name on your birth certificate?

It seems to me you’d still would have a mismatch.

Married women in particular always have a mismatch between their married name and their maiden name. So if they’re having to verify identity they would need to produce both the birth certificate and their marriage certificate showing their name was changed.

Wouldn’t the transsexual people also have to produce documents indicating that he was changing his name from Andrew to Amber?

And if a transsexual needs to have a court order or other legal document indicating his name was changed, then why is there this great desire to change the sex on your birth certificate , when the birth certificate is still not going to be an adequate identity document for who they say they are now?
