The Barnacle immobilizes cars with 1,000lbs force, aiming to deter illegal parking effectively.
Citizen Watch Report ^

Picture this: a bright yellow contraption adheres to your windshield like a determined barnacle on a ship’s hull. But this isn’t marine life—it’s the Barnacle, a high-tech parking deterrent that’s turning heads (and immobilizing wheels). With suction cups boasting a whopping 1,000 lbs of force, it secures itself to your car, rendering any escape futile. No more clunky wheel clamps; the Barnacle is sleek, efficient, and, dare I say, oddly captivating. But fear not—there’s a QR code escape hatch for those who’ve crossed the parking law abyss. Welcome to the future of parking enforcement!

Wouldn’t want to interfere with the almighty state´s desire to control us, would we? Especially when it comes to vandalizing those bright new railroad boxcars they build for our transportation...

Ha ha. This is getting really hilarious. What revolutionaries we have here. Next thing you know you’ll be taking up arms for the cause. The great revolutionary war of 2024.Fight against the tyranny of not being allowed to park illegally.

University parking tags. Ours was index card sized and hung from the rear view. They were color coded with a 3/4” stripe. Electrical tape is 3/4” and comes in a variety of colors.

You know, if you’re just going to blithely accept whatever the ‘tyranny du jour’ happens to be at any given moment then that’s up to you.

Some of us have no patience and no tolerance for this nonsense. That you cannot imagine having such an attitude is not a surprise. That you would mock me because I won’t surrender my freedom is also no surprise.

Here are some wise words for such as yourself:

“If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen.”

I’m not sure the climate in Boston but it seems to me that those stupid bike lanes can only be used a few months of the year. WAY up here not far from the Canadian border the californicators have invaded and are puting bike paths all over the place. NO ONE uses them and we only have a few months in the summer when anyone can use them anyway. BUT OH how good it makes the californicators who have time and money to run for city and county government.

Yeah you value the ‘freedom” to park illegally without consequences. SMH
I think your freedoms should be more wisely spent elsewhere. LIke fighting against the deep state, fighting for our 1st and 2nd amendment rights, fighting against censorship.
Spare me the tyranny baloney. There is no tyranny in a business requiring people parking in their private lots to be customers of their business, not others.
I assume you understand the concept of private property. Do you let just anybody come and park in your driveway?

A friend of mine repo’d a car with a barnacle on it, despite the security guards telling him that he can’t take it.

The barnacle was easily removed. Last I knew, he still has it (the barnacle not the car), they never called to get it back.

The car was picked up by the bank or their agent and presumably went to auction.

Bike lanes make NO sense in Boston. No body uses them in the winter at all. They are hardly used in the summer. They have a really liberal Mayor (Michelle Wu) now.

The only thing that is great is when they turn a rail trail into bike paths. There is one that runs from Nashua, NH to Ayer, MA. It is about 27 miles long and paved. I have ridden that several times. I have no idea what it cost to pave it. Probably was some federal tax money involved. It does get lots of use on the weekends. Even in the winter when there is snow on it.

There is another rail trail along a river north of where I live. It is not paved. So, it is suitable for mountain bikes. Not road bikes.

There is/was an epic thread that began on an Audi forum and ended up cross posted on many car forums from a guy who dubbed himself “Dolly Man.”

He was living in a HOA and you had to have a parking pass hanging from the rear view mirror to be able to park in your own driveway. His mirror had fallen off so he laid it on the dash where it could easily be seen, but the parking nazis booted his car.

He put it on car dollies and rolled it into his garage for some long term repair and restoration.

They demanded that he give the boot back “there it is, take it.”
But you have to pay. I will in some months. We need it now. Take it. You have to pay.

And round and round it went. By the end of it people were calling and hating on the parking nazis day and night and restraining orders and lawyers were bickering back and forth.

It got to the point that all the threads on it got wiped away. Truly an epic thread.

About 20 years ago, there was a wonderful scene in a movie. One of the main characters figured out how to always get a really good parking space in the city. He had his own Denver Boot in the trunk. He would put it on his front tire after illegally parking. Whether it was just a 5 minute stop, or half the night, his car was always where he had parked it.

By January 16, OU students had figured out how to defeat the Barnacle using a variety of means, including by using a defogger and a credit card to release the suction cups, by blocking its signal with an aluminum Faraday cage,

Anything that uses suction cups is going to be trivial to defeat. What folks should have done is taken them off, and either tossed them off a cliff, or simply hide them. Perhaps ransom them with a demand to be paid in BTC.

Since I'm sure they are fairly expensive, they probably have some kind of 'phone-home' tied to GPS, which of course, could easily be defeated by said faraday cages. Definitely an opportunity to screw with the government in a fun and useful way.

So you take pride in illegal parking, vandalism, and destroying property. Got it. Nice to know you’re such a fine upstanding citizen.

Are you still wearing your face diapers?
