This does appear to be unrelated to the FAA Airworthiness Directive issued in March.

I am 73 and I have experienced compressor failure on a least 2 flights (Delta 737 and American 777). Not to mention a flameout and engine fire of a Delta Tri-star leaving SFO.

One little thing breaks and they don’t do so well.
Full disclosure; Former Boeing engineer and I’d fly on a 777 any time. I was on the team that certified the first ones.
