Ukraine should have taken a que from Poland and had well trained military before this war started and perhaps it wouldn’t have started.

Ukraine was ruled by a Russian puppet before the Euromaidan. Then finally, they started to get their act together but they still had to deal with corruption.

Both Poland and South Korea have large standing armies to deter their hostile neighbors.

That was ten years ago. They did very little even after Russia stole the Crimea and started making trouble in the Donbas.
