You have a self-sacrificing “lone gunman”.
Assassins working in the context of a plot are most unlikely to offer their lives like this.

I think you are defending Plausible Deniability.

The more of this defending the powers that be I see when an event happens, the more I am sure it was truly a conspiracy.
