You are correct. Reagan had blue balloons falling from the sky, not red. World Net Daily did an article on this, how the designation for states was changed from blue to red. The willing leftist media, and even conservative sites and broadcasters sheepishly went along with it. Red is another term for commie influence, which is what the Demonrats want to convey.

The convention used to be blue was for the party that controlled the presidency, red was for the party that was out of power.

During the 2004 presidential election coverage, a network intern didn’t know this and put up the same colors that were used in 2000. That’s how it started.
