This is a big country. 90% of the people will just want to get through the day. They literally don’t care about any of the things that drive the left and right nuts.

There isn’t going to be any civil war, anytime soon. There is not a single issue (like slavery) that would drive large swaths of the country to take up arms against the other people.

What I think people who frequent these threads don’t really “get” is that their point of view and “enthusiam” are really on the tail ends of the bell curve. Most people in this country would sit out any violence, let alone a Civil War.

Abortion. The border. Mandatory green energy that doesn’t work (heh heh. Their tanks will run out of juice on the battlefield).

“This is a big country. 90% of the people will just want to get through the day.”
Most people didn’t fight for freedom during the Revolution.
Most people didn’t own slaves not cared to fight for their freedom.
Most people didn’t want to get involved in that “European War”
Most people couldn’t have placed Pearl Harbor on a map
Or Korea...
Or Vietnam...
But things can change swiftly and usually without people’s knowledge or desire.
People are already at each other’s throats online.
Look at “the summer of love” in 2020
It could be an economic collapse, foreign attack, energy shortage or just another stolen election.
I’m not a prophet nor “God’s special messenger” but people are more divided by race, religion, politics and income than in the sixties.
Back then, society’s foundation institutions were firmly in place and could weather the conflicts back then.
What will bind us together today?
Not the church, not the law nor common decency or even common sense.
I hope I’m wrong but I’m pessimistic about the future.
